On Monday, 2K Sports officially announced the 30 Years of WrestleMania single-player campaign mode for WWE 2K14. If you're a fan of the WWE, its signature event and the rich history associated with both, there's no way you won't be at least a little excited about the prospects of this mode.

I had the opportunity to participate in a conference call with WWE Games creative director Cory Ledesma and WWE legend and CEO Triple H as the mode was detailed.

As you might expect, there were a few specifics that weren't revealed, but here's what we know so far.

Gamers will have the opportunity to relive the greatest matches in WrestleMania history in a progressive format that covers five eras in WWE history. The goal of 2K Sports is to recreate the unique presentation elements, arenas, ring attires, entrances, screen effects and crowd types to transport the gamer to the era of each match.

Old school matches will even use a different camera filter to replicate the television technology of the time. That's pretty awesome.

The mode will also feature in-game cut scenes and game objectives for accurately recreating the most memorable moments of the matches. Gamers will be rewarded with additional playable WWE Superstars, alternate attire options, new arenas, championships and WWE archive photography.

If the presentation for all 30 years of WrestleMania is recreated as authentically as the Attitude Era was in WWE '13's campaign mode, we could be in for a treat.

The Buildup

Instead of just randomly dropping gamers into a match with no explanation of how the clash came to be, exclusive WWE video packages will be used to build the story and add intensity. In the event that you're unfamiliar with the events that led up to a historic match, these video packages will bring you up to speed.

Aside from being informative, the promos are a great way to pay homage to a few of the WWE's greatest performers on the mic. I can think of several "Macho Man" Randy Savage cut scenes that would go nicely leading up to one of his legendary matches at WrestleMania.

What Matches are Confirmed?

There will be 45 matches in all, but as of now, the only ones that we know about for sure. Those are the epic WrestleMania 3 main event featuring WWE/WWF legends Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, The Rock and Hogan's Icon vs. Icon clash from WrestleMania 18 and The Great One's battle with John Cena at WrestleMania 28.

The WrestleMania 3 match is significant because it is one of the biggest in wrestling history. This also officially marks the return of Hogan to video games. Quite honestly, Hogan's inclusion in the WWE 2K14 roster is almost as big as Michael Jordan being added to the NBA 2K series.

He is still perhaps the most recognizable name and face in the history of the industry. The premier pro wrestling simulation should have Hogan in its roster.

Many gamers have masterfully recreated and shared the Hulkster with the game's Community Creations feature in the past, but it's nothing like having him included as a licensed character.

Recreating the Hogan and Andre match should also mean we'll get a chance to see the participants arrive in those cool mini-rings.

The other 42 matches haven't been revealed, but with legends like Ultimate Warrior, Andre, Hogan, Undertaker, The Rock, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and others confirmed, the possibilities are exciting.

This new mode will obviously have an impact on the official roster. In conjunction with the announcement of the 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode announcement, 2K also disclosed the official roster for the mode would be revealed live on Twitch.TV from WWE SummerSlam Axxess on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 3:30 p.m. ET.

The reveal will be hosted by WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler and WWE Superstar Damien Sandow. You're welcome.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. WWE 2K14 is scheduled to release on Oct. 29.
