Mo on Joining Blazers: 'It's a Great Situation'
In 2003, after he entered the NBA draft after two seasons at Alabama, Mo Williams became a client of SFX Sports Group, which assigned a young coach to work with him.
A decade later, Williams and Olshey sat side-by-side at a news conference at the Rose Garden on Thursday, Williams as the Trail Blazers' newest acquisition, Olshey as the general manager who convinced the free agent point guard to join his roster.
Williams signed a two-year deal worth $5.6 million, with a player option for the second year. A lot has been made of the fact that Olshey was general manager of the Los Angeles Clippers when they traded for Williams at the 2011 trade deadline. But their relationship goes back much further, back to the summer of 2003.
