Whether you call him Jonny Nitro, Jonny Spade, Jonny Blaze or John Morrison it is clear that John Hennigan is an amazing athlete. Before being any of those persona's John Hennigan attended the University of California at Davis.
It was here that he studied film and geology that was until the wrestling bug bit him.
John Morrison started his wrestling career at the Supreme Pro Wrestling School before being accepted into the third series of the televised competition Tough Enough.
John went on to win the competition and win a development contract with the WWE. From these humble beginnings John Hennigan has gone from strength to strength.
His skills on the mic and in the ring has made him a serious contender for the World Heavyweight title in the not too distant future. Without further ado John Hennigan, This is your life.
Name Changeing and MNM
John Hennigan made his debut as a part of Raw brand where he wrestled under the ring name of Johnny Blaze. However, the next week his name was changed to Johnny Spade.
Still unsatisfied with Hennigan's ring name the WWE changed his name to the more permanent name of Johnny Nitro. It was not too long after his debut when Hennigan began his gimmick of being Raw General Manager Eric Bishoff's apprentice and assistance.
With a lackluster debut and gimmick, Hennigan was sent back to OVW. To explain his departure, the WWE put Hennigan in a match against the mentally challenged Eugene with the stipulation being that whoever incurs a loss are fired from the WWE.
Returning to OVW, John Hennigan still wrestling under the ring name Johnny Nitro and formed a heel tag team with Joey Mercury to be managed by Melina Perez. This faction would be known as MNM.
In the year MNM spent in OVW the faction held the Southern Tag Team Championship once and had notable feuds with Johnny Jeter and Matt Cappotelli (the latter being the co winner of Tough Enough in Hennigan's series) and The Thrillseekers.
Instant Success Upon Return
April 2005 saw the return of Hennigan to the WWE as apart of the SmackDown! brand with MNM. MNM immediately challenged WWE Tag Team Champions Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero and in their first match back, MNM claimed the tag titles.
MNM held their titles for three months defending it at Judgement Day against Hardcore Holly and Charlie Hass.
However at the Great American Bash MNM lost their titles to the Legion of Doom. However regaining the championship did not take long. On a episode of SmackDown! MNM successfully won the titles in a Fatal Four Way Tag.
MNM's second championship reign was by no means a successful one. After holding the titles for only a month MNM lost their titles on a episode of SmackDown! only two days before Armageddon to Batista and Mysterio.
Once again it was not long before MNM regained their titles as it was only two weeks later that MNM defeated Batista and Mysterio for the titles. The start of MNM's third reign as WWE Tag Team Champions started with a bang with a title defense in a Steel Cage Match against Batista and Mysterio.
After another defense against The Mexicools, the champs started a three month long feud with the tag team of London and Kendrick. The feud ultimately led to Judgement Day with London and Kendrick winning the titles over MNM.
After the loss, Nitro and Melina suddenly turned on Mercury which ended the faction. Later that night Nitro and Melina complained to General Manger Teddy Long about the outcome of the title match.
Their tone wasn't appreciated by Teddy, who eventually fired both Melina and Nitro from SmackDown!
Return To Raw
Johnny Nitro was seeming to make a habit of returning/debuting on new brands and winning gold within the month. After a loss to John Cena, Nitro was into the Intercontinental title picture and won the gold at Vengence in a triple threat involving Shelton Benjamin and Carlito.
Nitro's successful title win started a four month long feud with Jeff Hardy which eventually lead to a Jeff Hardy title win on Raw. Jeff's win came after numerous title defenses by Nitro, including a bout at Unforgiven; however, Nitro was not prepared to moved on.
Nitro continued to pursue the Intercontinental Championship. Johnny was outvoted at the Cyber Sunday Pay Per View but the next Monday, Nitro successfully regained his Intercontinental Championship over Jeff Hardy.
Unfortunately for Nitro his reign only lasted a week when he lost to Jeff Hardy.
MNM Reunion
After a successful (ladder match) Intercontinental Title defense by Jeff Hardy, Johnny Nitro and Melina welcomed back Joey Mercury to accept an open challenge from the Hardy Boyz for the December to Dismember PPV.
After battling across brands, the tag teams met at December to Dismember; however, unfortunately for MNM the Hardy Boyz were too good on the night.
The feud between the tag teams intensified at the last PPV of 2006. Armageddon became the scene of a horrific injury sustained by Joey Mercury in the WWE Tag Team Title Match. A botched ladder spot left Mercury's face destroyed. Joey left the fight bleeding profusely leave Nitro to fight out a loosing battle as London and Kendrick retaining the titles.
However while the MNM reunion was taking shape Johnny Nitro became involved in a celebrity feud with John Cena, the celebrity being Kevin "The guy that nailed Brittany" Federline.
The storyline stipulated that Kevin was to be trained by Johnny Nitro for a match on Jan. 1 2007 against the WWE title holder John Cena. Kevin won the match with outside help however later on in the night, John Cena came out to FU Kevin Federline which created news around the world.
With his celebrity feud ending, Johnny Nitro and MNM continued to feud with the Hardy Boyz with Nitro feuding with Jeff on Raw and Mercury feuding with Matt on SmackDown!
The feud between the Tag Teams came to and end at the Royal Rumble when the Hardyz defeated MNM. This ended their multiple branded feud.
Only a month after the Rumble, Mercury was released from the company ending the faction and tag team which was formed between Joey and Johnny.
Johnny Nitro To The Land Of Extreme With A New Name.
On June 17, 2007 Johnny Nitro was drafted to ECW after a quiet period since the loss of his faction. Johnny made his debut in a match against Nunzio which he would eventually win.
However Johnny continued his tradition of winning gold when moving brands buy winning the ECW Championship against CM Punk at Vengeance when he was called up to replace the missing Chris Benoit.
With the biggest win of his career, Johnny's name and gimmick was changed. Johnny's new name would be John Morrison and his gimmick changed to a narcissistic type person.
John Morrison fresh with the new name change began a feud with CM Punk with Morrison defending his ECW Title at the 2007 Great American Bash PPV.
John Morrison, living up to his gimmick, began a new segment called "15 minutes of Fame" where if a wrestler wins or last 15 minutes with John Morrison they would become the number one contender.
After two jobbers failed, CM Punk lasted the 15 minutes becoming the number one contender at SummerSlam. John Morrison won the bout but next week CM Punk once again became the number one contender the next week after the loss.
It was third time lucky for CM Punk when he won the title at the Sept. 1 taping of ECW. After loosing John Hennigan (JoMo's real name) was suspended for breaching the WWE wellness Program.
Once he returned, his feud with CM Punk continued however another party had joined the feud. The other party was "the chick magnet" The Miz.
MNM2 - Morrison and The Miz
Despite being enemies at the time, The Miz and John Morrison teamed up to win the WWE Tag Team Championships at a taping of SmackDown! against Matt Hardy and MVP. Going in as tag champions at Survivor Series, The Miz and John Morrison were both defeated by CM Punk in a ECW Championship fight.
After the fight the "enemy" storyline was dropped and The Miz and Morrison was portrayed as good friends. The tag team had numerous title defenses on SmackDown! and ECW and PPV's against various tag teams.
The tag team held the titles all they way to the 2008 Great American Bash, where they lost their titles to Curt Hawkins and Zach Ryder in a fatal four-way match in which the title holders where never pinned.
The tag team soon became apart of a feud with Cryme Tyme, which began over the teams respected shows "The Dirt Sheet" and "Word Up". The feud contained numerous fight on Raw with both teams recording wins.
The team's feud came to an end after a fight at the Cyber Sunday Pay Per View with Miz and Morrison gaining the win. As the team continued its good work, the team gained two slammy awards with the major one being "Tag team of the year."
The team made sure that people didn't forget their slammy award wins by constantly parading them around.
At a Raw House Show on December 13, The Miz and John Morrison claimed their second tag team championship after beating CM Punk and Kofi Kingston. After the win The Miz and John Morrison started to begin a feud with The Colons.
After numerous fights including both Tag Teams defending their titles an agreement was made between the two tag teams.
At WrestleMania XXV, the teams will compete for the Unified WWE Tag Team Championships. In the dark match at WrestleMania XXV the lumberjack tag team title match was won by The Colons.
A week later at the WWE Draft, The Miz competed in a match against Kofi Kingston. The Miz was eventually DQ'd due to Morrison interference and the win was given it to Kingston.
The Draft Pick went to Raw and the person drafted to Raw was "the chick magnet" The Miz. After hearing the news of his drafting, The Miz turned on John Morrison which signaled the end of the tag team.
Return to SmackDown! And My Personal Thoughts
On Apr. 15 2009, John Morrison as a part of the Supplemental Draft was drafted to SmackDown! His first match on his old brand was a match against R-Truth which Morrison won.
A week after his win signaled the change of his gimmick as John Morrison turned baby-face for the first time in his career. After turning baby-face John Morrison has beaten Shelton Benjamin and got into a backstage altercation with Chris Jericho.
Personal Thoughts
John Morrison is a quality wrestler. His in ring skills are superb as are his Mic Skills. He is a ECW World Champion, four-time WWE Tag Team Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion and a World Tag Team Title Holder. John is also a two-time Slammy Award Winner.
I personally believe he will start to move into the Main Event scene in the next two years. He has spent a lot of time in the Tag Team divisions and it is about time that he moves into the spotlight as a singles wrestler. Anyway, without further ado:
John Hennigan, This Is Your LIfe.
