Montreal Embarrasses Leafs in Every Possible Way
We don't have their women. We don't have their historic downtown, their food, their cafes, their night clubs. We don't have a casino downtown. We don't have St Catharine street. We don't have a pulse. That's right... we are TORONTO.
I am reminded of this fact everytime I visit the city of Montreal to watch the Maple Leafs play the Canadiens. I was further reminded last night as I tuned in to watch the Habs play the Bruins in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Anyone who has had the great fortune to work their way inside the morgue that is known as the Air Canada Centre knows that their is greater atmosphere inside the Union Station Commuters Lounge than their is inside the arena.

Could Sens Trade for Barzal? 🤔
You learn to check your emotions at the door as you sit down for the player intro and watch some ancient, dollar store production that I could create on Windows Movie Maker. The players intro song is changed every 10 years, the video graphics look like something off a VHS camera and the on-ice graphics... well unless you count that tiny floating Maple Leaf symbol as entertainment you're likely craving a little more.
When I enter the Bell Centre in Montreal and yell "GO LEAFS GO!" I'm amazed to not see the customary glare from the patrons in suits wondering why I had to raise my voice at their business. I go to my seat... the lights dim and much to my surprise it isn't Shania Twain or Cher blasting through the rafters, it's Linkin Park! I am reminded of the history of the Canadians as a full lighting display is splashed across the ice. The crowd goes wild as the team skates out to Coldplay.
I could go on, but if your reading this you likely have experienced what I'm talking about. Everynow and then I need to blow off some steam and distract myself before I start to question why I continue to follow a team that does everything wrong.
Everytime I go to Montreal or watch their intro on TV, I am embarrassed to be a Leafs fan. So please MLSE, if you make one signing this summer, sign the guy who makes the Habs intros. It will be your first step towards becoming a respectable franchise again.
