Are you a Longhorn?
Well, go and throw it up!
Actually, you better be ready to do a lot more than that. This routine comes with a bunch of shouting, clapping and dancing as if a national championship bid was just reached.
It's the new roll call for Texas players, and it is led by strength and conditioning coach Jeff Madden. It took place before the first practice of fall camp and obviously has the players pumped for the upcoming season. If this much fun takes place during roll call, Mack Brown and his coaching staff should have perfect attendance throughout each practice.
No tardiness in Austin. Nobody in their right mind would want to miss an opportunity to let loose and shake out those cobwebs. Most players seem like they're just beginning to get with the world—in flip-flops and all.
Once Madden utters those magic words, though, they're all wide awake and full of energy.
Players jump to their feet, the Longhorns go up and the celebration begins.
Wait—what are we partying for?
Who cares? Just do it. It feels good.
This is what a good strength and conditioning coach does, and it's cool to see Madden can bring so much joy before weeks of practices that are sure to be grueling.
Texas leads the country with 19 returning starters and is ranked 15th in the latest USA Today Coaches' Poll. Expectations are once again high for the program and it's enough to make everybody want to touch the sky.
It would be interesting to find out if this was practiced several times to get everybody on the same page, or if it was an in-the-moment activity in which the players took care of the rest.
The latter would make it legendary.
