As you probably noticed during Monday night’s Raw, John Cena came to the ring with a bandaged elbow.

This left many to wonder what happened to the WWE champ and if it would be an issue for WWE’s upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Apparently Cena is suffering from a swollen distended elbow, which seemingly had little to no effect on him during his tag match on Raw.  It should come as no surprise that Super-Cena once again appears to be unstoppable

According to WWE.com:

For now, it does not appear that Cena’s title defense is in any danger, nor is his eligibility for SummerSlam. He can and has fought back through worse. As for whether he’s truly at 100% when he puts his title on the line? That, at least, is no longer a given.

Say what you will, but Cena’s work ethic should be applauded. Yes, we are all tired of seeing the gold around his waist, but it appears that the company feels they have no other option. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to have witnessed Mark Henry walking out of Money in the Bank as WWE champ—but it just wasn’t in the cards.

That being said, the WWE has a real chance to do something great here by having Cena drop the title to Daniel Bryan on August 18. Chances are the victory will be short-lived, as I fully expect to see Randy Orton cash in his MITB briefcase following the Cena-Bryan bout regardless of the outcome, ultimately making him the WWE champ as the event comes to a close.

In the end, with less than two weeks to go, we can rest assured that Cena will be ready and put his best foot—or in this case elbow forward.  Until then, we will get to watch this feud unfold before our very eyes and hope for the best at SummerSlam.
