After being in a car accident that had him hospitalized, Demetrius Byrd, a wide receiver out of LSU, had a glimpse of hope when the San Diego Chargers drafted him in the 2009 NFL Draft. His first priority is to regain his strength so he can give all he has to his new team. Byrd was recently released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

“I appreciate the Chargers for recognizing my hard work and helping me live out this dream. I promise you that I will work hard every day on and off the field,” Byrd said through his agent. Although unable to attend the Charger's recent mini camp, Byrd is hopeful he will be able to be on the field soon.

Although a bit of a risky draft pick, Byrd should suit the Chargers well in the upcoming season. Byrd says he is willing to work hard and if he does, it will show greatly on the field. This will be a fantastic pick by the Chargers when Byrd makes his full recovery.
