World Football, EPL, Arsenal, Liverpool, Cristiano Ronaldo , Cesc Fabregas , David James , Steven Gerrard, Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, Rankings/List

So folks here it is. The shortlist for the PFA Player's Player of the Year award and yes, you guessed it, it includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, and Emmanuel Adebayor.

But the big surprise for me is the nomination for 37-year-old Portsmouth goalkeeper David James.

Yes, the man known as Calamity James for the majority of his time at Liverpool has picked up a nomination for breaking back into the England team.  The list is rounded off nicely by Cesc Fabregas and Steven Gerrard.

For what it's worth my top three are:

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo: You've got to hand it to him. The guy is a goal machine. Even the die-hard ABU fans can't deny it.
  2. Fernando Torres: He deserves something for a fantastic debut season but Ronaldo will make sure that he is the bridesmaid this time round. Any other season in any other league, he'd win hands down.
  3. Cesc Fabregas: The best player in the league in the first three months of the season he was responsible largely for Arsenal's early form. Unfortunately, he seems to be fading a little come the business end of the season.

So who do you think will win? And who's going to win the young player of the year?

Will Ronaldo seal another double or will Micah Richards of Man City be a bit of a smokey?

Have your say.

Players' Player of the Year

  • Emmanuel Adebayor (Arsenal)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)
  • Fernando Torres (Liverpool)
  • David James (Portsmouth)
  • Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
  • Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)

Young Player of the Year

  • Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)
  • Fernando Torres (Liverpool)
  • Ashley Young (Aston Villa)
  • Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
  • Micah Richards (Man City)

  1. Has to be Ronaldo and Ronaldo......

  2. Same here. Ronaldo and Ronaldo for me.

  3. Ronaldo and Ronaldo here too.
If it had to be any other than him tho, It'd be Torres and Fabregas..

  4. Fabregas and Fabregas for me

  5. i think player of the year is ronaldo and ronaldo
he has been fantastic this season even better then last year but ithink torres is not far behind him :):)

    com'on united :)

  6. NO DOUBT... Ronaldo for both... absolutely NO DOUBT. No one else has a chance with the form Ronaldo has been in this season.

  7. Ronaldo for both probably..I guess Torres can claim one of them..on second thought..na..Ronaldo for both!

  8. the only person that is what 4 it is [ torres ] the most humble and well play guy ,i love it to be given to torres

  9. People tend to forget this award is not voted for by supporters, managers or journolists, the winner is selected by fellow profesionals. Fair play and humility may count for a lot in the final reckoning.

    1. Your right Chris, but I think if anyone other than Ronaldo won, there would be something seriously dodgy going on. Quite simply, he has had the best season I've seen any player have in the Premier League, ever! It hurts me to admit it as I'm a Liverpool supporter but he's simply one of the best players, if not the best, on the planet right now. I think his fellow players know this too.

  10. Hard done on James there - he's not gotten onto the list because of breaking back into the England team. He's gotten onto the list because he has hands done been the best goalkeeper in the league this year, and has almost single-handedly salvaged game after game for us. I'm very proud that he's been picked as one of the six - he truly deserves it.

Still, he doesn't stand a chance at winning, and nor should he against Ronaldo. Ronaldo is definitely going to win without a doubt. I do, however, think Torres might be in with a shout for Young Player of the Year....but it'll be tough.
