 Patriot Pat says...

Darius Butler—wish I could say welcome to New England, but I would be a little late on that one wouldn't I?

Darius Butler

Fans of the team were excited to have a corner of your caliber selected, but a lot of them were shocked that the team didn't draft an outside linebacker with the pick you were drafted at. What would you have to say to the naysayers as far as supporting the Patriots drafting you?

Darius Butler

Leading up to the draft, you trained with Deion "Prime-time" Sanders. How exactly do you think his tutoring helped you prepare for the draft, and prepare for life in the National Football League in general?

Darius Butler

Do you feel overwhelmed at all about coming into a team that has such high expectations for this year?

Darius Butler

Your senior year at the University of Connecticut yielded no interceptions. This concerns some, seeing that with your skill-set, one could infer that making moves on the ball is your biggest strength. Would you say that the reason for that is the lack of passes thrown in your direction that year?

Darius Butler

Why would you say that quarterbacks tended to avoid you in college?

Darius Butler

You are aware that as a rookie in the National Football League, quarterbacks will be targeting you—not avoiding you? Does this motivate you to stay on top of your game?

Darius Butler

I'm curious how much larger the play book is in New England compared to UConn. Can you let me in on that, or is that some Top Secret information?

Darius Butler

I know you can't speak for the rest of the team, but how do you feel about playing a game in London this year? Do you think the travel will have an effect on the teams' performance?

Darius Butler

Bill Belichick came and saw you workout at your Pro Day in Connecticut. Did you feel especially nervous knowing that a head coach—who hardly goes to such events—made a point to drive down to see you? What was your encounter with him that day like compared to when you met him at rookie camp?

Darius Butler

A lot of fans are expecting you to become a solid replacement for the loss of Asante Samuel. Are you prepared to take on the challenge of filling such big shoes?

Darius Butler

If there was one thing about Asante that bothered me, it was his relative inability to make a tackle at the line of scrimmage. This is something you are going to do better than him, right?

Darius Butler

So you will be wearing former starting cornerback Ellis Hobbs III' number, No. 27. How did you feel on April 26 when the Patriots traded away Hobbs to make room?

Darius Butler

You realize that I am instantly your No. 1 fan, seeing you are a Patriot, and I am a fanatic?

Darius Butler

Well thank you for your time, Darius. Good luck out there during training camp and the preseason. We fully expect to see you picking passes and cracking heads come the regular season.
