SC junior forward Amy Rodriguez has helped the US Women's soccer team secure a berth in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Rodriguez was a regular facet on Team USA's roster throughout the past three international tournaments, and yesterday helped them to win their semifinal match at the Olympic Qualification Tournament in Juarez Mexico. According to, reaching the finals vs Canada on April 12th has secured the US Team a trip to the Olympic games. Rodriguez - USC's top scorer last season when the Trojans claimed the 2007 NCAA Championship - was invited to train with the U.S. full national team in December...She has since accumulated nine more caps along with three international goals while competing at the Four Nations Tournament in China, the Algarve Cup in Portugal and the current CONCACAF Olympic Qualification Tournament in Mexico. It is the first time the women's Canadian team has qualified since Women's soccer first entered Olympic competition in 1996. It is the fourth trip for the United States team, who also qualified in '96, '00 and 2004.
