Mark Martin once again proved 50 is nifty as he took home the checkered flag in Saturday night's Southern 500 presented by GoDaddy.com in Darlington, SC.
Unfortunately, none of our writers here on B/R picked the 50-year-old to take home the win, but Kelly Crandall's pick of Jimmie Johnson did finish runner-up to his teammate.
Johnson's second-place finish inched Crandall closer to points leader M.J. Buchanan, whose pick of Jeff Gordon came home fifth.
Crandall now sits only 56 points behind Adam Heasley, who is second in the Creature vs. Creature points standings.
Buchanan not only maintained her points lead for the week, but also extended it to 32 points over second-place Heasley.
Heasley's pick of Greg Biffle led the most laps and looked to have a solid shot at winning, but faded later in the race, bringing home an eighth-place finish.
Heading into an off weekend, here are where each writer's driver finished at Darlington, as well as the points as they stand today (wins in parenthesis):
M.J. Buchanan, 1668, Jeff Gordon finished fifth. (0)
Adam Heasley, 1636, Greg Biffle finished eighth. (2)
Kelly Crandall, 1580, Jimmie Johnson finished second. (1)
Ben Bomberger, 1492, Jeff Gordon finished fifth. (0)

Remember, the points will be set following Race 26 at Richmond, the same time the actual points standings are reset for the 2009 Sprint to the Chase.
Each writer receives 10 bonus points for correctly picking the weekend's winner. At the end of the regular season, writers will be seeded based on their number of wins for the final 10 races.
