Throughout the 2013 summer transfer window, it has been evident that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is enamored with Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. After a recent set of events, it looks as if his feelings toward Rooney won't be swaying anytime soon.

According to The Evening Standard, via The Independent, Mourinho and Co. are reportedly readying a bid of £40 million for the United star.

Although Chelsea possesses a number of players who are talented and have shown in the past that they can get the job done, Mourinho must stop at nothing to get Rooney.

Bringing in Rooney would instantly change the dynamic of the team for the better.

During the 2012/13 Premier League campaign, Rooney garnered 12 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances.

Pairing him with playmakers Eden Hazard and Juan Mata would create a picturesque attack that would be extremely hard to stop.

With Manchester United, Rooney showed that he can play off the main striker and create opportunities for those around him. Placing him behind Robin Van Persie created a formidable duo that was extremely hard to combat.

Hence, Mourinho and any soccer enthusiast knows that wherever Rooney is on the pitch, he makes things happen.

Likewise, after Manchester City went out and purchased two world class strikers in Stevan Jovetic and Negredo, the EPL crown will be extremely tough for anybody to win.

Thus, bringing in Rooney would bolster the attack, giving Chelsea the opportunity to mount a challenge for the title during the 2013/14 campaign.

With the Blues already having Demba Ba, Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Torres to select from, adding Rooney into the mix would probably signal the end of Ba and Torres at Chelsea, according to The Independent.

Hence, with all the moves taking place during the chaotic summer transfer window, Mourinho has to continue to make attempts to bring Rooney to Stamford Bridge for Chelsea to have a legit shot at winning the EPL title.

With the season only a few weeks away, time is ticking for a deal to come to fruition.
