Glorious Goodwood 2013 kicks off a five-day celebration of horse racing with an eventful first day on Tuesday.
As one of the premier events on the British racing calendar, this historic track will be home to some high-stakes races. On Tuesday, the Lennox Stakes promises to be the highlighted event of the day. With a £150,000 purse offered up to three-year-olds and older, this race has a stacked field.
The opening of Glorious Goodwood is always an extravagant event. In the stands attendees strut their latest sporting fashions in a way that turns this into an event on the social and sporting calendar.
Of course, the horses aren't completely overshadowed. To that end, there are strong competitors lined up for the first day of racing.
Take a look at the schedule for Day 1, and then I'll offer up a preview and prediction in the day's highlighted event.

The Lennox Stakes has been viewed as a warm up to Wednesday's Sussex Stakes. However, it is definitely worth top billing in its own right.
There are some strong horses in this Group 2 race. That includes 2012's place horse Libranno.
Last year, Libranno finished second to Chachamaidee. Also, he has won five group races in his career. However, Libranno has not been in the greatest form lately, and has failed to finish higher than fourth this year.
Fencing is coming off a bad run his last time out in the Lockinge at Newbury. He was sixth in that Group 1 race. Prior to that, Fencing won the Paradise Stakes his last time out.
This is an inconsistent horse, but he definitely has the speed to contend.
Another horse to keep an eye on is Krypton Factor. He is coming off three straight shows. Two of those were in Group 1 races. However, he was paceless his last time out in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes.
Still, Krypton Factor has been a consistent force. He hasn't finished lower than third all year. He also won the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen last year.
I see Krypton Factor putting together a strong showing and taking the top prize.
Win: Krypton Factor
