WWE 2K14: Predicting the Entire Roster and Overall Ratings

0 of 21

WWE 2K14 is scheduled to hit stores on October 29 (November 1 European), and judging by the recent news and rumors, it's going to be one of the greatest wrestling games WWE has ever come out with.

Though a bit premature, I've predicted the entire WWE 2K14 roster and each current Superstar's overall rating.

WWE '13 was all about the Attitude Era and included a lot of wrestlers from that time period, so you shouldn't expect every single one of those Attitude Era superstars to be playable in WWE 2K14. The slogan for this year’s game is "Become immortal," so adding a few WWE legends to the roster is a must.

I've predicted the WWE 2K14 roster and overall ratings through wishful thinking, logic, rumors and referring back to WWE '13.

A lot of the fans that make up the WWE Universe enjoy wrestling video games. If there is one thing we can agree on, it’s that all of us gamers are anxiously looking forward to WWE 2K14.

These predictions are listed in alphabetical order. Enjoy.

(A)

1 of 21

    Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio will most likely be featured as the World Heavyweight Champion in WWE 2K14. He has improved his in-ring skills and looks to be more vicious.

Trust me, Del Rio may be excruciatingly boring on TV, but it will be fun to give him a Rock Bottom or Stunner in this game. However, this year, it will be more difficult to get the 1-2-3 on the Mexican Aristocrat.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 89

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 91

    Antonio Cesaro

Antonio Cesaro was available through DLC (downloadable content) in WWE '13. Happily, things will be different this year.

The Swiss Sensation was underrated last year and should be rated higher in WWE 2K14. Cesaro just had a brilliant match with Daniel Bryan on Raw and has proven himself multiple times inside the squared circle. Unfortunately, I have a feeling he will be underrated again—though still higher than a lousy 84.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 84

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

    Big E. Langston

AJ Lee’s partner in crime wasn’t featured in WWE '13 and will finally be playable this year. There is no denying Langston’s strength, which will be one of his key attributes in WWE 2K14. Langston is still a rookie and hasn’t proved himself in the ring just yet.

Therefore, a mediocre rating is appropriate.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 87

    Big Show

Throughout the last year, Big Show has put forth some very impressive performances, especially against the Celtic Warrior Sheamus. I’ve never been a huge fan of using Big Show in video games, but judging by his WWE '13 rating, he must have been pretty fun to control. Not a lot has changed for Big Show since last year, but I do think he is a little bit slower.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 92

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 91

    Brad Maddox

Brad Maddox is currently the general manager of Raw, but I have a feeling he will be a playable character in WWE 2K14. Average wrestlers in WWE '13 received an 83-86 rating, so I predict Maddox will have an overall score of 83.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 83

    Brock Lesnar

What can you say about Brock Lesnar? He is the beast incarnate and was underrated in WWE '13, at least when you compare him to the likes of Triple H, CM Punk and John Cena.

Lesnar was very enjoyable to control last year, and I expect the same in WWE 2K14. How fun was it to hit those German Suplexes?

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 92

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 94

    Brodus Clay

Brodus Clay has kind of fallen off the map. He was somewhat popular back in 2012, but this year, the dancing dinosaur has gotten kind of annoying. Anyways, Clay had an average rating in WWE '13, and I expect his rating to drop this year.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 85

(C)

3 of 21

    Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho had one of the best sets of moves in WWE '13 and is bound to be a favorite in WWE 2K14. As of right now, he’s been written off of WWE TV, but I expect him to have a higher overall rating this time around. Throughout the years, the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla has aged, but you wouldn’t know that by watching him perform in the ring.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 90

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 92

    Christian

As of right now, Christian is the No. 1 contender for Alberto Del Rio’s World Heavyweight Championship. He was undoubtedly underrated in WWE '13. I expect him to have a better overall rating this year.

Christian is older and more mature, but he can still put forth top-notch performances inside the squared circle. I believe Christian should have a 90 rating, but due to his injuries and absences, his character in the game will only improve slightly.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 88

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 89

    CM Punk

The poster boy of WWE '13 had an epic 434-day WWE Title reign until he was finally beaten by The Rock. It looks like Punk is haunted by The Rock once again; the Great One has graced the cover of WWE 2K14. Nonetheless, Punk will be one of the best players in the game. I guarantee his character will be used the most amongst the WWE Universe.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 95

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 95

    Cody Rhodes

After years of having no direction, Cody Rhodes finally has an interesting feud within Vince McMahon’s circus. Rhodes had a surprisingly high rating in WWE '13. I expect him to keep that same rating. Rhodes finally has an exciting feud, but with WWE 2K14 coming out in about two months, it’s a little too late for the dashing one to achieve a higher overall rating.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 88

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

    Curtis Axel

The son of Mr. Perfect is the current Intercontinental Champion and will likely be featured that way in WWE 2K14.

Axel has an interesting set of moves that includes about two or three finishing/signature moves. Therefore, I predict that he will be used quite a bit in this year’s game. Axel is a little above average, and that’s the way he should be rated.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

(D)

4 of 21

    Damien Sandow

The intellectual savior of the masses was available in WWE '13 through DLC and received a disappointing overall rating. Since he is the Money in the Bank briefcase holder and has been partnering and feuding with Cody Rhodes, expect Sandow to have the same rating as his “best friend.”

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to execute the Elbow of Disdain!

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 84

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

    Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is arguably the most popular superstar in the WWE. He will definitely have a high rating in WWE 2K14.

Bryan is one of the best technical wrestlers in the business today. In a year, he will likely have the highest rating, aside from John Cena, in WWE 2K15. Bryan will be very fun to control, and hopefully, when it's appropriate, the crowd will be chanting “YES” over and over again.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 91

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 93

    Darren Young

Darren Young was not a playable superstar in WWE '13 and wasn’t even available through DLC. Young has been seen on WWE TV quite a bit. No doubt he will be included in WWE 2K14.

It’s difficult to give Young an overall rating considering he loses a lot, but the man that is one-half of the Prime Time Players has looked impressive in his singles matches and should be given a decent rating.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 86

    Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose is clearly the leader of The Shield and is currently carrying a singles championship. Therefore, expect WWE’s “Joker” to have the highest rating out of all the Shield members.

He soared onto WWE TV after WWE '13 came out and was not featured in the game. In the ring, Ambrose has been impressive and wrestles with a certain awkwardness that is truly unique.

He should have a higher-than-average rating in WWE 2K14.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 89

    Dolph Ziggler

Since turning face earlier this year, Ziggler has slowly become a fan favorite. He was underrated in WWE '13 but was still one of the most exciting characters to control. He has great moves, and I’m hoping that he has been equipped with the Super Kick in WWE 2K14. You should expect him to have an overall rating in the low 90s.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 89

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 91

    Drew McIntyre

The so-called “Chosen One” has fallen from grace and is now a certified jobber in WWE. He is a part of the rock gang known as the Three Man Band and hasn’t "recorded" a win in years.

Last year, McIntyre had an overall rating of 84, and the same rating in WWE 2K14 seems fair.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 84

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 84

(F)

5 of 21

    Fandango

Since defeating Chris Jericho in one of the biggest upsets in WrestleMania history, Fandango has slowed down quite a bit. He’s losing more matches, but considering Fandango’s entrance and moves, he should be pretty fun to control in the game.

Fandango defeated Y2J but lost to Cody Rhodes. Therefore, he will have a slightly above-average rating in WWE 2K14.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 87

(G)

6 of 21

    The Great Khali

The Great Khali is a difficult one to predict. He is extremely powerful but is mainly used as a side-show attraction and a jobber.

In WWE '13 he had an overall rating of 84, which seems kind of low but still reasonable. The video above may be a bit misleading considering the Punjabi playboy doesn't get that loud of a reaction nowadays.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 84

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 85

(H)

7 of 21

    Heath Slater

Heath Slater is the leader of 3MB and should have a higher rating than Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal. When he isn’t jobbing and is given the chance, Slater can put on some good matches. His most recent bout showed how good of a competitor he is. He went against The Miz on the January 4 edition of SmackDown.

Slater definitely has skill and this year, he will have a higher rating.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 82

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 85

    Hornswoggle

Yes, rumor (from WWE Gaming) has it that Hornswoggle will be a playable character in WWE 2K14. He wasn’t featured in WWE '13, but looking through the overall ratings in the game, the lowest WWE superstar rating was an 81. Hornswoggle hasn’t competed in years and it may be a high rating, but 78 seems fair.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 78

(J)

8 of 21

    Jack Swagger

At the start of 2013, Jack Swagger was hotter than he’d ever been. Things looked very promising for the University of Oklahoma graduate. However, after some publicly reported problems, things drastically went downhill. Regardless, Swagger has always been underrated and impressive in the ring.

I actually think he will be a fun character to use in WWE 2K14.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

    Jey Uso

Jey and his brother Jimmy have finally stormed into the WWE Tag Team division and are giving The Shield a run for their money. It’s hard to differentiate Jey from his brother, but they look promising, and within a few months, expect them to be holding the Tag Team Titles.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 81

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 84

    Jimmy Uso

Jimmy is identical to his tag team partner and brother Jey. Therefore, they should have the same overall rating.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 81

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 84

    Jinder Mahal

Jinder Mahal looked legitimate when he made his WWE debut and had a storyline with The Great Khali. But, like Drew McIntyre, things didn’t work out so well. Now he is stuck in 3MB.

    Always remember, don’t hinder Jinder.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 83

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 84

    John Cena

The current WWE champion was the highest-rated superstar in WWE ‘13, and I have a feeling that he will be the “best” playable character in WWE 2K14 as well.

The high rating will clearly upset the hardcore wrestling fans, but the face of the company should be the best player in the game. It’s that simple. Regardless, in WWE 2K14 you will be able to take any superstar you’d like and beat up Cena for hours.

Just be careful; he may reverse a chair shot and give you an Attitude Adjustment.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 96

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 96

    Justin Gabriel

Justin Gabriel competes on WWE TV very sporadically. He is extremely gifted and is one of the best high-flyers in WWE today. It may be hard to remember, but Gabriel has put forth a few decent efforts in the past.

Because of his high-risk, high-reward style, he will be interesting to control in WWE 2K14.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 83

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 84

(K)

9 of 21

    Kane

Without a doubt, Kane has been the most consistent WWE superstar for the past 15 years. It’s a shame he doesn’t have many World Titles under his belt, but you can trust the Big Red Machine to put forth a good performance each and every night. I feel that he was a bit underrated in WWE ’13 and deserves to have an overall rating of 90.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 89

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 90

    Kofi Kingston

Aside from Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston may be the best athlete on the entire WWE roster. His ability to bounce off the ropes and execute high-flying moves will be one of the best things about using Kofi Kingston in WWE 2K14. He was rated an 87 in WWE ’13, but 88 sounds like a reasonable overall rating in WWE 2K14.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

(M)

10 of 21

    Mark Henry

Mark Henry was one of the hottest heels in WWE until he just recently turned face. He was overwhelmingly underrated in WWE ’13 and deserves to be one of the best playable characters in WWE 2K14.

Henry isn’t quick, but he doesn’t need to be. The World’s Strongest Man will be the most powerful superstar in the game and will be hard to defeat.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 89

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 92

    The Miz

The former WWE champion and Real World star has good moves and was a fun character to use in WWE ’13. Despite having no real direction, I feel that Miz continues to improve his in-ring abilities each and every year and should have a slightly higher overall rating in WWE 2K14.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 88

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 89

(R)

11 of 21

    R-Truth

The last time we saw R-Truth, he was getting beat down by the Wyatt Family.

Aside from that, he hasn’t been showcased on WWE TV very much. Truth is an underrated worker and has only been in the main event scene once in his career. He has a unique style of moves and always amps up the WWE Universe whenever he is called upon.

However, he will have the same, or lower, overall rating in WWE 2K14.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 86

    Randy Orton

Two years ago, Randy Orton graced the cover of WWE ’12 and was one of the most enjoyable superstars to control. In WWE 2K14, look for Orton to be one of the best characters in the game. The ability to hit the second-rope DDT and the RKO from literally out of nowhere will be a fun and interesting feature.

Orton is one of the most popular superstars in WWE today and will be a favorite in WWE 2K14.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 92

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 94

    Rey Mysterio

Due to his injuries, the WWE Universe hasn’t seen Rey Mysterio in very long time. He is arguably the greatest high-flyer in WWE history and is always a popular character to control in video games. His lucha libre style and the ability to spring off the ropes will be cool to see in WWE 2K14. Even though Mysterio hasn’t been around, he will probably have the same overall rating as last year.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 90

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 90

    Rob Van Dam

I have a feeling that RVD will not be available as a playable character as soon as WWE 2K14 comes out, but he will eventually be downloadable soon after the game’s release.

RVD came back to WWE less than a month ago. I’m sure a lot of us gamers hope that he will be on the roster. Van Dam is truly "one of a kind," and his moves are completely different from the ones used in WWE today. If he is on the roster, RVD will be an absolute pleasure to control.

    WWE ’13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 91

    The Rock

Even though he’s in Hollywood, the WWE Universe will be able to see The Rock in WWE 2K14. It's surprising that the People’s Champ is on the cover of the game, but he is definitely a legend and one of the most popular superstars in professional wrestling history. Since he is on the cover, I expect the Great One to have an overall rating of 95.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 93

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 95

    Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns and the other members of The Shield were not in WWE ’13. It will be exciting to see the trio in WWE 2K14. Reigns is the most powerful of the group and brings undeniable intensity every time he steps into the ring. Hitting the Spear will be a highlight in the game.

    WWE ’13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

    Ryback

The WWE has done a horrible job booking Ryback of late, and he just doesn’t seem like the monster he used to be.

Ryback was available through DLC on WWE ’13, but I’m not sure if a lot of gamers jumped at the opportunity to download him. The singlet-wearing powerhouse is extremely strong and has potential, but I have a feeling that people who play WWE 2K14 are going to find a number of creative ways to beat him up.

    WWE ‘13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

12 of 21

    Santino Marella

Nobody has seen Santino Marella in an absurd amount of time, but you should still expect the WWE comedian to be featured in WWE 2K14. Santino is a talented wrestler who has never been given the chance to excel considering his ridiculous gimmick. He had an overall rating of 86 in WWE ’13. That number is likely going to drop this year.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 86

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 84

    Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins is the quickest member of The Shield and will definitely be a favorite in WWE 2K14. As stated before, Ambrose is the outright leader of the trio and has singles gold around his waist. Therefore, he should be rated higher than the other two members.

Rollins’ wrestling skill and style has helped him be the standout of The Shield, and I for one am excited to control him in WWE 2K14.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 88

    Sheamus

Sheamus is still trying his very best to get over with the WWE Universe, but here’s some advice: Those 1-800 FELLA commercials need to stop.

The Celtic Warrior was a lot more entertaining as a heel and should be fairly enjoyable to control in WWE 2K14. He had a respectable overall rating in WWE ’13 and will have a similar rating this year.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 90

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 91

    Sin Cara

In 2012, Sin Cara was a mysterious and entertaining high-flyer, but he’s been blasted with negative comments thanks to a handful of memorable botches. Sin Cara isn’t necessarily used as a jobber on WWE TV, but he’s getting pretty close.

Like Mysterio, Sin Cara will be interesting to control in WWE 2K14 thanks to his high-flying attributes.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 86

    Tensai

Tensai, like Brodus Clay, is a heavyweight wrestler that will have high attributes when it comes to the strength category.

Unfortunately, that’s about it when it comes to Tensai in WWE 2K14. Seeing him dance alongside Clay is something that I am not looking forward to.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 87

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 85

    Titus O'Neil

There isn’t much to say about Titus O’Neil except that he has the potential to be a legitimate threat in WWE. He has a great amount of strength and is built like a horse. He and Darren Young are the two members of the Prime Time Players, and they should be given the same rating.

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: n/a

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 86

    Triple H

Due to the storylines in WWE ’12, Triple H is kind of an annoying superstar to control. His moves haven’t really changed throughout the WWE video game series, but he will still be one of the highest-rated superstars in WWE 2K14. The Spine Buster/Pedigree combo is one of the best, but I’ve controlled Triple H so many times before and I’m sorry to say that I will not be using him very much in “the game.”

    WWE '13 Overall Rating: 93

    WWE 2K14 Overall Rating: 93

    Tyson Kidd

Without a doubt, Tyson Kidd is one of the most underrated superstars on the current WWE roster. It’s a shame he suffered an injury and that the WWE Universe hasn’t seen him compete in almost a year. The fact is, Kidd is a high-flyer and a top-notch technical wrestler. It’s ridiculous that he wasn’t included in WWE ’13.

Expect to see Tyson Kidd as a playable character in WWE 2K14.

    The Undertaker

Though we don’t see The Undertaker on WWE TV as much, he is still one of the most entertaining and well-respected superstars in professional wrestling history.

'Taker has always been a popular character in wrestling video games, and hitting the Tombstone Piledriver on numerous opponents will be exceptionally satisfying.

CM punk was given an overall rating of 95 in WWE ’13, while Taker was only a 93. Considering the Phenom defeated Punk at WrestleMania, it only makes sense that they have the same overall rating. Right?

    Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett has been a victim of WWE’s illogical booking for quite some time now. He is a three-time Intercontinental Champion and has all the tools to become a main event superstar.

Barrett recently picked up his Souvenir finishing move, which should be interesting to see in WWE 2K14. Barrett deserves to receive a higher rating, but I can’t see the Englishman being rated any higher than an 88.

    Zack Ryder

Zack Ryder is a talented WWE superstar that just can’t catch a break. He’s been involved in some ridiculous storylines and continues to get buried virtually every other week on WWE TV. He was fairly popular in WWE ’13, but I don’t think that will be the case in WWE 2K14. Considering Ryder is as low as he’s ever been, it makes sense to give him a low overall rating.

    WWE 2K14 Legends

Animal, Andre the Giant, Billy Gunn, Booker T, Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Dusty Rhodes, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, Goldust, Hawk, Jake Roberts, JBL, Jerry Lawler, Jimmy Snuka, Kevin Nash, Mick Foley, Owen Hart, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Road Dogg, Roddy Piper, Scott Hall, Shane McMahon, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Ultimate Warrior, Vader, Vince McMahon, X-Pac.

As you can see, there are no ratings given to the WWE 2K14 Legends. This is where you, the readers, come in and let your voices be heard. What overall ratings would you give your favorite legends?

Exclusions

20 of 21

As stated before, WWE '13 was all about the Attitude Era, and you shouldn't expect every superstar in that game to be in WWE 2K14. This is solely based on recent releases, rumors and personal feelings as to which superstars and divas will be excluded from this year's game.

    Current Roster/WWE '13 Exclusions

David Otunga, Epico, Eve, Hunico, Kelly Kelly, Kharma, Primo, Ted DiBiase, Vickie Guerrero.

    WWE '13 Legend Exclusions

Attitude Era Chris Jericho, Attitude Era Christian, Attitude Era Edge, Attitude Era Kane, Attitude Era Lita, Attitude Era Mark Henry, Attitude Era The Rock, Attitude Era Triple H, Attitude Era Undertaker, Big Boss Man, Bradshaw, Brian Pillman, Cactus Jack, Chainsaw Charlie, Dude Love, Farooq, Gangrel, Godfather, Grand Master Sexay, John Cena '04, Mike Tyson, Paul White, Scotty Too Hotty, Val Venis.

Conclusion

21 of 21

Judging by the predictions, there will be over 100 total characters in WWE 2K14. I know that number seems high, but including DLC, there are (roughly) 105 characters in WWE '13.

Remember, all 100-plus characters will not come out with the game once it's released. Just like WWE '13, more superstars and divas will be available every single month on the PlayStation Network or XBox Live Marketplace.

WWE video games have always included an extensive and intriguing roster, and I expect WWE 2K14 to be no different. So, which WWE superstar or legend will you control first?

Do you agree with the roster and the overall superstar ratings? Who would you like to see in WWE 2K14? Please leave your suggestions, thoughts and concerns in the comments section.
