Deion Sanders to Bring the 'Crazy and Chaotic' for Oprah Winfrey Network Series

Fans of Deion Sanders are in luck, because the NFL Network analyst is getting his own series. You just have to go through the pain of finding out if you get the Oprah Winfrey Network first.

Deadline Hollywood, via Pro Football Talk, reports the former NFL and MLB star who offers his opinions and vibrant personality for the NFL Network will show off his family in an upcoming reality series.

Oprah Winfrey Network has ordered a new docu-series about “the crazy and chaotic family life” of former NFL star Deion Sanders...The reality docu-series about Sanders – described by OWN as “football legend, baseball great, broadcaster, Hall of Famer, international superstar, businessman, educator and father” – is called It’s Prime Time and will premiere in early ’14.

Much like other reality series we have seen come and go, this one pretty much writes itself—right down to the title, It's Prime Time

However, the network may have missed a solid opportunity by failing to incorporate Sanders' alter ego, Leon Sandcastle. Sure, the character may be played out like a parody of "Call Me Maybe," but going through the rigmarole of signing Sanders only to miss out on Sandcastle may serve as a costly blunder.

I know I would watch Leon/Deion, a buddy cop comedy show that features Sanders playing both parts as he goes around to solve football crimes.

Instead, we will get more of the same look at a celebrity's life, shot through a heavily produced vantage point.

You might recall the biggest OWN broadcast in the last year was the two-part marathon interview Lance Armstrong offered to Oprah Winfrey, which drew over 3 million viewers in the first night's airing.

It is still unknown which demographic will meander over to OWN to take in all the zany antics of the Sanders family.

By their own release, OWN is promising a great deal with the show:

It's Prime's Time (working title) is the hilarious and compelling real life story of Deion Sanders...Deion faces the challenges of raising his five children in a household that also includes his mother, her foster children and his aunt and uncle, while guiding the future of Prime Prep Academy, the charter school he created to try to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in underserved areas. He plays the role of father, leader, bread-winner, coach and teacher for everyone around him. And in those rare instances when he gets a little overwhelmed, his girlfriend, producer and businesswoman Tracey Edmonds, who has two sons of her own, is there to help pick up the slack...

Edmonds and Sanders are both credited as executive producers of the show.

Some might recall that Sanders had another foray into the reality TV world with ex-wife Pilar Sanders called Deion & Pilar: Prime Time Love. The show lasted just one season on the Oxygen Network, and the couple later went through their own ugly divorce

And yet another celebrity gets the reality TV treatment. Who knows, it could be the next great series, beloved the world over. Don't laugh, because I still have trouble grappling with the Kardashians being so wildly popular.

Now remember, OWN, any dip in ratings can be solved with a little Leon.
