Lionel Messi and the rest of Barcelona sported a new look as they took on Bayern Munich to kick off their preseason on Wednesday.
According to the team's site, the new kit is fashioned after the Catalan flag—the Senyera. As one can see, they look pretty sharp.
The new kit is already a big hit with fans according to the site and their popularity is sure to grow, as the team has now taken them to the pitch for the first time. Bayern Online tweeted out a picture of Messi in action wearing one of the new jerseys.

Unfortunately for Barcelona, the result of the preseason fixture had to feel rather familiar, as they were topped by the German powerhouse 2-0 yet again.
What grade do you give the new look?
The two sides met twice last season in a matchup that has not been kind to Barcelona recently. The German club dominated the Spanish side in the 2013 Champions League semifinal, handing them their worst defeat of the season at 4-0. The eventual Champions League champions followed that up by beating them again 3-0.
While the preseason friendly didn't mean nearly as much as the Champions League matches, it was still good to see the team back in action after the long summer lull for the club.
The new kit is just another reason why Barca fans should be excited for the upcoming season. The defending La Liga champions figure to be a threat to take home the championship once again, as Messi returns as the top scorer in the league last season, even if they still haven't figured out how to beat Bayern Munich.
