The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a baby boy into the world Monday, and the birth was met with every reaction imaginable.

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s first child elicited an outpouring of social media reactions.

BBC Breaking News first posted a photo of the birth announcement on Twitter:

But by that point, Twitter had already erupted with support for Prince William and Middleton, as well as some humorous musings from the sports world.

Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips and several other Major League Baseball All-Stars had some interesting advice for the royal couple following the announcement:

Likewise, Vancouver Canucks winger Alexandre Burrows and defenseman Kevin Bieksa provided some parenting advice in this video, via the team’s official Twitter account:

Vancouver also tweeted a photo of a great gift idea for the youngster:

The New York Jets' official Twitter account went so far as to suggest a name for the newborn baby boy, although given the Jets’ recent performance, that might not be the best idea:

WWE superstar Wade Barrett hails from England and had a message of his own for the royal baby, as did the company’s Twitter account:

If the baby boy is anything like Prince William, though, professional wrestling may not be his sport of choice. As this Rugby Football Union tweet points out, the Duke of Cambridge is no stranger to the sport of rugby:

The Rugby Football Union wasn’t the only organization to pander for the future king’s attention, either. As noted by Fox Sports, Premier League football club Aston Villa has already released a line of merchandise featuring the royal baby and the club’s logo:

Likewise, the Chicago White Sox had some fun with the birth, congratulating William and Kate with a humorous “photo of the #RoyalBaby”:

Even NASCAR got in on the lighthearted nature of the occasion, challenging the future king to surpass the king of racing, Richard Petty:

The occasion may not have been a serious affair, but it definitely captured the attention of many across the world. Let’s just hope we don’t see a similar reaction when the royal couple decides on a name.
