The UFC’s three-week break will end July 27 when the promotion heads to Seattle, Wash. for UFC on Fox 8. The fight card, which will take place at the Key Arena, will be headlined by a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and fourth ranked John Moraga.
Johnson (17-2-1) captured the title by defeating Joseph Benavidez via unanimous decision victory in September 2012. Since that win, he has defended the title once, topping John Dodson in January of this year.
Moraga (13-1) earned his shot at Johnson and UFC gold when he submitted Chris Cariaso in December. That win extended Moraga’s winning streak to seven consecutive victories.
The co-main event on the Fox 8 card will pit two top-five welterweights against each other. Third ranked Rory MacDonald (14-1) will match up against fourth ranked Jake Ellenberger (29-6).
Also appearing on the main card, Robbie Lawler (20-9-0-1) versus Bobby Voelker (24-9) and Liz Carmouche (8-3) versus Jessica Andrade (9-2).
To promote the fight card, the UFC has put together a “Road to the Octagon” video that pays a visit to the training camps of Johnson, Moraga, MacDonald, Ellenberger, Lawler and Voelker.
