Matt Harvey could be the next Derek Jeter

With The Captain aging quickly and not playing a full MLB game this season, New York City has had to find a new favorite star, and Harvey appears to be that guy.

The New York Mets' 24-year-old ace started the 2013 MLB All-Star Game, was featured in ESPN The Magazine's Body Issue and has finally started enjoying the perks of being NYC's new center of attention.

The Empire State needed a new hero after Jeter missed Opening Day—and has yet to play this season—and Harvey is the perfect guy to fill that role.

The 6'4" Harvey has the looks of a movie star. He is the perfect guy to plaster on New York City billboards and has even landed a relationship with Victoria's Secret model Anne Vyalitsyna, according to the New York Daily News.

Harvey doesn't just have the looks and skill that helped make NYC fall in love with New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, he's also legitimately funny.

In case you live under a rock and didn't see him prank Mets fans by posing as a reporter and asking about new pitching phenom Matt Harvey, here it is:

Harvey rolls with the punches and takes everything in stride, which is exactly what celebrities have to do to survive in New York.

What's more, he likes to party.

According to David Amsden of Men's Journal, Harvey lives in a one-bedroom apartment in the East Village, which Amsden describes as "a downtown neighborhood known for its raucous bar scene."

Harvey's pad is surrounded in windows, which makes him feel like he is really in the heart of New York, as opposed to other stars, who tend to live a quiet life in the suburbs.

He's said that he "[expletive] loves this city," and "I'm young, I'm single, I want to be in the mix."

Those sound like the words of a man who wants to have some fun.

Harvey certainly won't have any problems finding things to do, as a guy who's been called the Dark Knight of Gotham by Sports Illustrated won't get turned away from any parties.

Finding a role model for a social life apparently won't be hard either. Harvey has already told Amsden of his respect for Jeter and the way he carries himself off the field.

That guy is the model. I mean, first off, let's just look at the women he's dated. Obviously, he goes out – he's meeting these girls somewhere – but you never hear about it. That's where I want to be.

You can't blame Harvey for picking the old King of New York as his role model—especially considering who he's dated.

Jeter's been linked to girls like Mariah Carey, Gabrielle Union, Tyra Banks, Scarlett Johansson, Minka Kelly and Jessica Alba among others, and he's doing pretty well for himself. Any guy in the world would be happy with that list.

Harvey looks like he could take over for Jeter once The Captain retires, and he would be the perfect fit to run the NYC single life.
