ESPN The Magazine released the fifth edition of its annual "Body Issue" last week, but the buzz-generating summer issue still has people talking, and not just about 77-year-old Gary Player.

In all, 20 athletes were featured in July's tribute to athletic beauty, but some appearances were much more memorable than others.

Here we'll look back on the most impressive physiques from ESPN The Magazine's 2013 Body Issue.

Vernon Davis, San Francisco 49ers

There's no doubt that you've got to be a strong specimen in order to excel in the NFL, but in this year's Body Issue, San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis drew more comparisons to a statue chiseled out of stone than a 29-year-old football star.

At 6'3", 250 pounds, Davis weighs as much as LeBron James, who is five inches taller and widely regarded as one of the strongest players in the NBA.

Finding a shred of fat on Davis' body is near impossible. The dude is all muscle and therefore it's no surprise he has emerged as one of the top targets in the NFL in recent seasons.

Golf legend Gary Player may be nearing age 80, but his body is more impressive than many men who are half his age.

The 77-year-old stole the show from the other athletes in this year's issue, becoming the oldest ever to pose for ESPN The Magazine's annual Body Issue, and looking good doing it.

Player, who won nine major tournaments over a span of two decades, credits his stellar body to a fitness regimen that includes 1,000 sit-ups per day. With a daily workout that extreme, it's no wonder that the South African earned the nickname "Mr. Fitness" some years ago.

Kerri Walsh Jennings, Volleyball

Olympic volleyball star Kerri Walsh Jennings took part in by far the most unique photo shoot of this year's edition.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist, who is sometimes fittingly referred to as "Six Feet of Sunshine," first posed during her most recent pregnancy. She then returned two months later to pose with her child, who was born earlier this year.

The 34-year-old mother of three has been dominating beach volleyball for a decade now, but with a body like hers, there's no reason to believe she'll have to take a break any time soon.

Matt Harvey, New York Mets

While it's certainly not fair to question the athleticism of each and every Major League Baseball pitcher, who are we kidding?

There are certainly a handful of throwers in today's game who are carrying a little bit extra around the waist, but New York Mets superstar Matt Harvey is not one of them.

The 24-year-old showcased his athletic form in a pair of shots that were featured in the magazine this summer, showing off his throwing arm and the plethora of muscles he uses to fool opposing batters on a regular basis.

Listed at 6'4", 225 pounds, Harvey has the body to succeed in nearly any other sport outside of baseball.
