Proceed with caution when walking near Bartolo Colon if he is locked in a loving embrace, because you just might catch a slap to the face.
On Monday night, America watched the brutal beating of baseballs thanks to the swift bats of Yoenis Cespedes and Bryce Harper.
In the end, the title of Home Run Derby champ went to the Oakland A's slugger as fans cheered and Robinson Cano's son got smacked in the face by the portly Colon.
Here is video of the unfortunate moment spotted by Bryan Rose of FanSided:
As the report notes, Cano's kid nearly got an elbow from Cespedes as he went to hug the triumphant home run champ, so he may have been doomed from the start.
In the end, the little guy took a big right-handed slap to the face from the A's pitcher, who was replaced on the All-Star roster by colleague Grant Balfour.
Now, if you were wondering if we could get some GIF action on this unfortunate moment when a jubilant child was reprimanded for doing little more than enjoying a wonderful night, Barstool Sports (h/t Kiley Kmiec of Next Impulse Sports) has you covered with the following:
You and your pals can now enjoy this poor kid's plight over and over until Tuesday night's first pitch gets tossed out.
Judging by the adorable and befuddled look he gives in the video, it seems Cano's child was uninjured and mostly just confused after the unintentional slap.
There is no doubt he will be ready to watch his father take part in yet another Midsummer Classic. However, something tells me he will stay clear of Colon, who might be in the dugout—especially if the A's pitcher is giving out free hugs to teammates.
