Summer Transfer Window Gossip: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Arturo Vidal

1 of 7

It's time for the weekend edition of the Bleacher Report summer transfer gossip wrap, with a host of big names involved in Saturday's stories in the media.

English Premier League stars Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez are seemingly both looking for an exit from their present teams, and we've got the latest on their proposed futures right here. It's not just the Premier League, though, as there's big news for the top three sides in Spain, as well as moves that could affect teams from Serie A.

Here's all the latest transfer news and gossip for you from the world of football.

Manchester City's Next Big Signing?

2 of 7

Manchester City have not been shy in spending big money this summer, with Fernandinho and Jesus Navas already confirmed as new signings for incoming manager Manuel Pellegrini to work with.

City are certainly going to be on the lookout for a new striker, though, having lost Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez in the past six months.

Martin Lipton of Mirror Football is now suggesting that the new target for the Etihad club is none other than Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is apparently unhappy that his club PSG are looking to sign another striker.

City is not the first choice of the forward, according to the report, with Zlatan preferring to follow former boss Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid. But with the manager indicating he will not sign anyone from the French club, it seems City have room to jump in with an offer. A £17 million fee, along with £250,000 per week wages, would be needed to sign the Swede.

Real Madrid in for Another Huge Midfield Signing

3 of 7

Real Madrid have just completed the signing of young Spanish central midfielder Asier Illarramendi, but the latest reports have them in the market for another player in the same position.

TalkSPORT are linking Real with a move for Chilean centre midfielder Arturo Vidal, indicating that a £36 million deal has already been made.

Vidal has been at Juventus for two years and has been an important part of their side, helping them to win the Serie A title last term. Real already have Luka Modric, Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira (as well as new recruit Illarramendi) for the midfield, so it seems perhaps one will be required to leave should Vidal's signature be claimed.

The Latest on Wayne Rooney

4 of 7

Wayne Rooney has seen his early preseason interrupted by injury, leaving United's training camp earlier this week, and his future is seemingly no closer to being resolved for when he does return to fitness.

The Irish Independent are claiming manager David Moyes continues to state that the forward is not available for sale, yet Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Star remains adamant that Rooney wants out. He further indicates that Chelsea are the club most confident of landing the England forward, with around a £25 million bid possible.

Rooney faces a month out with his hamstring strain, so he will struggle to be at peak fitness for the start of the season, no matter which club he is at.

Barcelona Decided on New Central Defender?

5 of 7

    C. Navarro of Marca is reporting that Barcelona have finally decided which central defender will be their next top target for the summer: AS Roma's Brazilian youngster, Marquinhos.

However, it might not be that Marquinhos' transfer to a club other than Barcelona signals defeat for the Spanish champions. The report indicates that Paris Saint-Germain are the other team interested in the young defender, and if they managed to snare him, Barcelona would take it as a sign that Thiago Silva—a previous target—might then become available.

Either way it appears Barça want a Brazilian name in their back line next term as they prepare to defend their league title.

More News on Luis Suarez to Arsenal

6 of 7

Marco Giacomelli of the London Evening Standard has reported that Arsenal are still very interested in signing Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, even though they have had an initial bid of £30 million quickly rejected.

The Gunners are prepared to raise their bid to £35 million for the Uruguayan, though rivals Liverpool are likely to hold out for far more yet.

When boss Arsene Wenger was asked about a potential new move for Suarez, he replied evasively, "Suarez? As you know the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I can’t answer the question."

Arsenal are looking for a new centre-forward to lead their line next year as they push for a higher league finish, but Suarez has previously indicated he would prefer to leave England if he leaves Liverpool.

Quick Kicks

Martin Demichelis has completed a transfer from Malaga to third-place La Liga side and Copa del Rey winners, Atletico Madrid, as per Marca.

Sam Gayton of Metro says that Chelsea are very close to sealing a deal for Daniele De Rossi.

Gayton also indicates that Liverpool want Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz to replace Luis Suarez, with Chelsea also interested in the Turkish forward.

Inter Milan are drawing up alternatives in case they are unable to secure the signing of preferred right-back target Mauricio Isla, say Marca. Martin Montoya of Barcelona is the next preference, with PSG's Gregory van der Wiel and Feyenoord's Daryl Janmaat also on the list.

John Cross of Mirror Football believes Norwich City want to continue their impressive summer by signing Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella for £6 million.

Marca are reporting that Sevilla boss Unai Emery accepts that striker Alvaro Negredo is likely to leave the club, and says that the deal must be good for all parties involved. He is confident that Sevilla will be able to replace the forward.

James Dickenson of the Express reports that Manchester United, having missed out on Thiago Alcantara, will move for Italian Antonio Candreva.
