Rajai Davis Swings and Misses at Embarrassingly Bad Pitch
Rajai Davis has some serious explaining to do after this swing.
The Toronto Blue Jays outfielder was like a little leaguer, dead set on swinging at the ball regardless of placement.
The pitch from Cleveland Indians reliever Cody Allen landed a few feet in front of the left-handed batter's box. The only problem is, Davis bats right.
It's too bad there was only one strike in the count at the time. If you look at the video, the ball went to the backstop and Davis could have made it to first safely...maybe even second.
Can it get any worse for the Toronto Blue Jays?
Sadly, he struck out looking on the next pitch on a ball right down the middle. Guess he didn't want to look like a fool again after the previous attempt.
Overall, it was just the end of a bad day for Davis Thursday afternoon in Cleveland, who was 0-for-3 with a walk and an error in outfield. That error allowed one of Cleveland's four runs to score, making it an even worse feeling for the Toronto outfielder.
While Davis will likely be a part of the next addition of "Not Top 10" on SportsCenter, he can take a little solace in the fact that he's still batting .289 on the year.
The Blue Jays are still three games below .500 and in last place in the AL East standings. That's nothing to get excited about.
Just chalk it up as another blow to a team with sky-high expectations entering the season.
