With the 22nd overall pick, the Brooklyn Nets selected Mason Plumlee, who they hoped would ease the burden that had been placed on Brook Lopez down low.
The situation would be perfect. Plumlee would be given the opportunity to learn from a young but talented center, and a rookie head coach that will go down as one of the best point guards in history.
Later that draft night, things changed for the better. The Nets acquired Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and Kevin Garnett from the Celtics in a blockbuster trade.
Now, Plumlee will be surrounded by future hall-of-famers, and perhaps the 2nd best power forward of all time in Kevin Garnett.
