According to Nick Paglino of Wrestle Zone, Liev Schreiber will be playing the role of Chris Benoit in the upcoming Crossface film.
Paglino stated the following:
The film will span the life and career of Chris Benoit, covering everything from his early days in pro wrestling, to the final days of his life during which he murdered his wife and child.
The movie is being written by Sarah Coulter, and it's being said that people like Triple H and Vince McMahon will be portrayed in the film.
Update: TMZ is reporting that Liev Schreiber will not be playing Chris Benoit in Crossface.
Many professional wrestling fans remember Chris Benoit for his relentless work ethic and his ability to put on unbelievable performances throughout his career. No doubt, Benoit was truly one of the best wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots.
There isn't that much information out on the movie yet, such as its release date or who will be starring in the film, but it seems like the biopic will virtually cover Benoit's entire life, leading up to the tragic murder-suicide back in June 2007.
Regardless of who lands the leading role, the WWE has tried its best to "erase" Chris Benoit from its history books, and I'm curious to see if Vince McMahon will have any comments, concerns or restrictions on the upcoming film
Chris Benoit is obviously a sensitive subject, and almost every wrestling fan has an opinion on the shocking and tragic case.
Hopefully the film will present both the positives and negatives of Chris Benoit and not taint WWE's image.
