NHL, Pittsburgh Penguins, Marc-Andre Fleury, Editorial, Conn Smythe Contest

On a team loaded with talent, there is one guy who sometimes gets overlooked as the key to the team's success. Sure, Sabourin and Conklin played well when he was hurt but Ty Conklin will never lead a team to the Stanley Cup. That's right, My Pick for the Conn Smythe winner is Marc-Andre Fleury.

Goaltending is and always will be the key to winning the Stanley Cup. There has been one Stanley Cup Winner in my lifetime that has won a Stanley Cup with mediocre or average Goaltending, and that team was the Chris Osgood lead Detroit Red Wings.

Crosby, Malkin, Hossa and Staal will lead a very strong cast into the playoffs and will provide plenty of scoring but without Fleury this team can not win it all. Goaltending must be strong and although Fleury has not been a great NHL goaltender and has in fact been very streaky but this is his time to shine and Fleury knows he is running out of time. He has to win and he has to win now!

Fleury has the skills to be one of the best, and in these playoffs he will prove the full extent of his ability by leading the Penguins over the Sharks in the Stanley Cup Finals.
