Big news on the Raw general manager front, as it appears Vickie Guerrero's job evaluation didn't go as planned for the self-proclaimed "cougar."
In case you were unaware, WWE had been teasing a live job evaluation for Guerrero to air on Monday's Raw. Even though her latest authority role wasn't her best run, it was her most intriguing. She was seemingly pitted against the McMahons for the latter part of the role.
Unfortunately, she was never really given the same presence that she had during previous runs, and she seemed all but lost in this role. Don't get me wrong, she is still one of the best female heels that the company has right now. However, it seems like she is getting lost in the shuffle of late.
After revealing their decision to fire Vickie, the McMahons announced the heir apparent for the newly vacated position.
That choice was none other than wrestler-turned-lackey Brad Maddox.
Overall, this news wasn't a complete surprise—especially considering WWE has seemingly been grooming him for the spot.
That being said, I have got to wonder how the company will utilize him in this position. Personally, I am not a huge fan of Maddox's current persona. The company has portrayed him as a weasel and kiss-up who is constantly looking for approval—which, if history has taught us anything, can quickly end any on-air "promotion."
That being said, I am hopeful that WWE will give him a decent shot and avoid making him look weak. However, he could prove to be a transitional figurehead that allows the company some time to land a bigger name for the job.
Either way, next Monday could make or break the Brad Maddox era.
