Golden Tate and the Replacement Ref Who Called His Controversial TD Reunite

The era of the replacement refs during the 2012 NFL season was not a proud time for any members of the league, especially the P.R. department. The boiling point came during the Seahawks-Packers Monday Night Football game in late September that ended on a controversial Hail Mary touchdown call for the Seahawks, gifting them the eventual 14-12 victory.

Now it appears that the referee at the center of the controversy has reunited with Golden Tate, the Seahawks receiver who was credited with the game-winning TD, at a charity softball event hosted by Seattle CB Richard Sherman. And it looks like ref Lance Easley's standing by his call of a touchdown.

It's unlikely that any Packers players or fans have a sense of humor about this, but at least we can find comfort in one thing—the professional refs will be back on the field at the start of the 2013 season.
