Breaking news!

Manny Ramirez is being suspended by MLB for 50 games for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.

Is this surprising to anyone?

It now seems apparent that any baseball player that hits for power and average must be using something to get their game to the next plateau. Can fans of the game truly believe that their favorite player hasn't used some type of enhancer to achieve dominant player status?

All it will take is for Albert Pujols to fail some type of test, and fans' faith in players will probably be shattered.

There haven't been any reports on what substance Manny was taking, but, regardless of what it is, he's got some explaining to do.

Update:   According to Yahoo Sports, Manny ramirez claims he was given a medication by a physician for an undisclosed condition. This medication is what came up on Manny's drug test.

Not sure if this completley vindicates Manny or not. Speculation about whether or not he is a juicer is going to be hard to quiet down. In my opinion this is why the word steroid should not be thrown around so loosely. Everything on the banned substance list is not considered a steroid. But, as soon as someone fails one of these tests they will be automatically associated with steroids. Really unfair if you ask me. But in life the truth only accounts for so much when it comes to peoples perceptions. What they see is what they think. Hopefully Manny can bounce back from all of this.

Where can I comment?
