UFC 162 ended with one of the more shocking victories in UFC history, when Chris Weidman knocked out Anderson Silva in the second round of the main event. The knockout ended the 10-fight title reign and 16-fight unbeaten streak of Silva, while extending the winning streak of Weidman to 10 straight. Oh, and it also made Weidman the new UFC middleweight champion.
After the fight, Weidman, and many of the other competitors on Saturday's fight card, spoke about their bouts.

Mike Pierce after earning a TKO victory over David Mitchell in the second round, extending his winning streak to four fights:
“I came here tonight to prove something, get noticed and deliver, and I think I did that in the second round. I think this win is definitely a step in the right direction.”
Edson Barboza after earning his second career UFC victory via leg kicks:
“I feel great. I trained a lot with punches and kicks. But my first fight in the UFC was the exact same thing with all the leg kicks. That was my game plan. Every guy in the UFC is the best, but by the look on his face, I could see it changing, and I knew the kicks were starting to hurt him.”
Gabriel Gonzaga after knocking out out Dave Herman in 17 seconds:
“I had a great camp and my trainers Marco Alvan and Ibere Reis really prepared me and trained me well for this fight. I was ready to stand up or go on the ground. I saw the opening and am very happy to have gotten the knockout so fast.”
"The game plan was to keep on the back foot and put the pressure on right off the start. I nearly had him in the second round, but I was forced into grinding the fight out and it was very tough. Very tough. It really means everything to get this win. My country is never mentioned in the UFC and hopefully this will inspire other fighters and kids from back home.”
"The first and second rounds were all his pace, his game and I couldn’t do anything. I was happy with the third round and what I was able to do, but I just couldn’t do what I wanted in the first two rounds and that was the difference.”
Andrew Craig defeats Chris Leben via split decision:
“I wanted to out box him and use a lot of footwork and occasional takedowns. I thought I landed more significant strikes but he had really good pressure up against the cage… The split decision didn’t surprise me. I thought the first two rounds were very close but I thought I had the third for sure.”
"I tried to go after him right away but had to step back and compose myself to regain the energy I needed in order to finish the fight. I’m the number one contender in the division, when I get that call for my next fight, I will be ready to go for the belt.”
"I’m disappointed obviously because I was so close to the title shot. I thought I won the first two rounds but it’s mma and you never know. One punch can change your career.”
“I’m feeling so happy, I’m home back in the Octagon and I knew if I just kept working and kept pushing I’d get the win. I was hitting him with everything I had so I really appreciate just pushing through and getting the win.”
“I’m not sure what I was thinking out there. I was just a little bit off. My timing just wasn’t there. I had the cardio to keep going but never pulled the trigger.”
Tim Kennedy defeats Roger Gracie by unanimous decision:
“I’m really disappointed. I hate going to decisions. I guess UFC jitters are real. It’s a big stage and I feel like I really let down my fans. I will come back better.”
Frankie Edgar defeats Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision:
“I was looking for the finish. I was comfortable in there and ready for a war.”
“It is still surreal. I’m waiting for it to sink in. I trained so hard and waited so long for this fight. The last year of my life was the most frustrating in my life. I was ready for all his tricks and all his taunting. I wasn’t afraid to strike with him. I knew I had to be ready for the fight to stay standing, I knew I couldn’t rely on a fight on the ground. If he wants a rematch, I look forward to it.”
“Chris Weidman is now No.1. My time with the title has ended. I’ve changed my life for my family and myself. I am happy with my work.”
