There are few things more American than baseball on the Fourth of July.
Across Major League Baseball, teams and players showed their patriotism in various ways in celebration of America's Independence Day.
Of course, each person and organization has a different form of honoring the United States on the day.
MLB simply wished people a happy day with this flag-colored baseball:
However, a few teams were able to beat the league to the punch with firework celebrations on Wednesday night.
The MLB Twitter account posted this picture of Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City:
Citi Field also displayed fireworks after the New York Mets game on Wednesday night:
The action continued into Thursday afternoon, with the Washington Nationals displaying this unique flag to start off the day in the nation's capital:
The Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays stood alongside men and women from the Armed Forces during the national anthem, as shown by the Rays' official Twitter account:
One of the more exciting parts of baseball on holidays is the collection of new-look uniforms on display. Across the league, teams wore special hats in honor of the day:
Eric Hosmer of the Royals tweeted this close-up picture of the hat he's wearing:
While most players are only shown displaying red, white and blue with their on-field uniforms, a few guys took their outfits to another level in the locker rooms.
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones did his Uncle Sam impression with this picture he posted on Instagram:
This is tame compared to Jonny Gomes, who might have won the day with these shorts:
On the other hand, some players simply enjoy waving a flag, like Cuban-born Yasiel Puig, via the Los Angeles Dodgers' Twitter account:
The 22-year-old phenom has already turned himself into a fan favorite over the past month, but this sight has to make the hometown fans even happier.
Overall, this was a great display across the league, as those at the stadiums and watching at home were able to get a sense of patriotism on one of the biggest holidays of the year.
Hopefully, you are enjoying the day as much as some of these players.
