The Detroit Red Wings revamped their top six today with the additions of Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss, and project to be contenders in 2013-14.

Damien Brunner will not be returning to the Red Wings according to GM Ken Holland.

The Red Wings are interested in Brenden Morrow. Morrow is a veteran winger with character that would be a solid fit with the Red Wings. He is another former-captain, and would add more veteran leadership to the dressing room.

Daniel Alfredsson is heading to the Red Wings according to Helene St. James, and Damien Brunner will be testing free agency according to Pierre LeBrun on TSN.

The Red Wings are heading to the Eastern Conference this season, and general manager Ken Holland will likely attempt to add some players that will allow his team to play East Coast hockey.

The Red Wings are a skilled team that exceeded expectations in 2012-13, and they will have the challenge of adjusting to a set of new opponents during the upcoming season.

There is always room to make improvements, however. This Original Six franchise prides itself on its ability to be a top contender, and the team has a bright future with many prospects who could make their debut this season.
