David Lake of 247Sports reported on the commitment.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Valentine is the No. 12 player from the state of Florida, so he also represents a big in-state commitment for the Hurricanes.
Miami continues to boast one of the hottest recruiting programs in the nation, and with Valentine aboard, the Hurricanes' 2014 recruiting class features an impressive 20 commitments.
It's now No. 3 nationally, according to the 247Sports composite team rankings, moving up two spots ahead of Michigan and Texas. The only schools with better recruiting hauls as of right now are Texas A&M and Alabama, at least according to 247Sports.
That's good company for Al Golden and his staff to be in.
The rankings can and will change, but as of right now, Miami is lighting up the recruiting trail. A good 2013 season could really put the Hurricanes over the top.
For some insight into the type of player the Hurricanes just landed, check out these quotes from Valentine's coach, via Barry Jackson of MiamiHerald.com:
“He’s great – one of the top five run stuffers in the country,” Champagnat coach Mike Tunsil said. “And he’s actually a better pass rusher. I’ve never seen a kid with a first step like that. He’s a workaholic, does great in the class room.”
According to Jackson, Valentine committed during an unofficial visit to Coral Gables.
