Tigers' Ace Justin Verlander Is Not Above Crooning With Fellow Fans
That Justin Verlander guy is all sorts of swell.
Stephen Douglas of the Big Lead gets us up to speed on a video that features the star Tigers pitcher singing with a couple of guys in what looks to be a hotel lobby or perhaps the adjacent bar.
It seems the guys on the video are from a barbershop quartet known as Beast Mode, and you can find out more about this group at their Facebook page.
Now before we get too deep, I would like to point out that "Beast Mode" is really a fantastic name for pretty much anything: fantasy football teams, burrito creations or singing groups who catch famous athletes when they least expect it.
Unfortunately, there is very little information surrounding what seems to be a chance encounter. If you do have more details, by all means.
If I can be so bold as to throw some assumptions around, it looks like these guys spotted Verlander and asked him if he might sing with them for a spell.
Being a man of his stature, we can also assume that Verlander gets any number of zany requests on any given day.
Still, the ace is happy to oblige, singing until he can sing no longer. The entire gang then shares a laugh as if they are old buddies and they happened to spot Verlander on some random trip.
If you are wondering, Verlander is in the middle of an up-and-down season, producing eight wins and 114 strikeouts while enduring a 3.77 ERA—the highest it's been since 2008.
No matter, because I have a feeling the baseball gods will look rather favorably on Verlander—a star athlete who will surely sing if you ask him to.
