Edwin Valero has no chance against Manny Pacquiao and never will.

In my last article, I wrote about the possibility of Valero fighting Pacquiao or Juan Manuel Marquez, and which of the three fighters would emerge as a Rocky type of hero.

I had no answers, though I definitely would cheer for Pacquiao. But just putting Valero in the same breath as the other two fighters now seems incredibly stupid.

Forgive me. I had just watched the Valero vs Pitalua fight, and he looked bad to the bone. But after watching Pacquiao's infinitely greater destruction of Ricky Hatton, a tougher opponent, I watched the Valero fight again and, that time, it seemed to play in slow-motion.

With his chin up, mouth open, and hands down, Valero wouldn't last five seconds in the ring with Manny Pacquiao, and I'm sorry for ever thinking he might.

The same goes for Valero and Marquez.

Though I believe Marquez is more susceptible to the knockout by a heavy hitter like Valero, I strongly doubt he'd get tagged. He's just too good, too smart, and too well-prepared.

With that written, I feel I can now turn the page on Edwin Valero vs Manny Pacquiao or Juan Manuel Marquez. He's irrelevant, and it should remain that way.

Let him find a good trainer, like Pacquiao did with Roach, and maybe seven years from now we'll be marveling at his vast improvements.

Let's just hope he lasts that long.
