Giants 5, Rockies 2

Buster Posey hit a solo shot in the third inning. Then San Francisco opened things up in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run shot from Hunter Pence.

Carlos Gonzalez had a home run, but otherwise the Rockies haven't been able to score with runners in scoring position.

A lot of that can be attributed to Madison Bumgarner, who pitched seven strong innings.

Bumgarner and Pence have to be the MVPs of the day. Bumgarner gave up one run in seven innings, Pence went 2-5 with a home run and two runs batted in.

San Francisco improves to 39-42 while Colorado drops back below .500 at 41-42. The Giants are 2.5 games behind the Rockies in the NL West.
