Philadelphia Phillies Minor League Recap and Major League Notes

It was tough night for the Phillies farm teams, as all four affiliates took losses in Tuesday night action.

The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs fell to 0-6 with a 4-1 loss to the Pawtucket Red Sox. J.A. Happ allowed 11 base runners in 4.2 innings of work, though he only allowed three runs en route to his second loss of the season.

The Reading Phillies lost the second game of their series with the Bowie Baysox by a score of 8-3. Andrew Carpenter struggled in his second outing of the season, allowing eight runs in 4.2 innings. The young right hander has a 6.52 ERA in his first two starts for the R-Phils.

The Clearwater Threshers lost to the Fort Myers Miracle by a score of 2-1 at Bright House Networks Field.  The offense struggled to put anything together and made a hard-luck loser out of Joe Savery who allowed two earned runs in seven innings. Savery has posted a 1.50 ERA in his first two starts.

The Lakewood BlueClaws lost the opener of their series with the Hagerstown Suns, 5-2. Michael Durant continued to hit well in the season’s first week, going 2-for-4 with a run batted in. Durant is hitting .333 through the first five games of the season.

Pitching matchups for the remaining two games of the Mets series have RHP Kyle Kendrick dueling with RHP Mike Pelfrey on Wednesday, while RHP Adam Eaton goes against RHP John Maine in Thursday’s series finale.

The Phils return home on Friday night to play the Chicago Cubs for a three-game weekend series as they start a nine-game home stand.
