OAKLAND, Calif. • It took the American League to knock the Cardinals out of their perch in the National League. Interleague play continued to be unkind to the longtime league leader as the Oakland Athletics ejected rookie Shelby Miller early and cruised to a 6-1 victory Friday night at O.co Coliseum. The loss was the Cardinals' fifth in their last six games, and all five have come against American League West teams. The Cardinals have yet to defeat an AL team this season with a winning record, and they continue this eight-game road trip against AL West teams with a 4-6 record so far in interleague play.
