We bring you Friday Night Smackdown immediately following the draft, where a few newcomers and a few big names were brought to wear Friday Night Blue.
Among those big names are JLB, B/R's resident Phenom who has looked almost unbeatable in all but one match, the latter being an Elimination Chamber match with six of B/R's best stars.
Also coming to Smackdown was AkD, who remained winless throughout all of his matches thus far. How will AkD's luck fare on Smackdown's Day One? How will the new superstars fare in their debuts? Who will be the first on Smackdown to capture gold?
We start, above all else, with a Six-Man Battle Royal for the World Heavyweight Championship. With Raw having a match at Judgement Day to determine the WWE Champ, I decided to crown a new champ on SD and have the chase for the title, ending at Judgement Day.
With GHD coming off his win of the ECW Championship on Monday Night Raw, the other six competitors were thrown into the Battle Royal. Among them were JLB, M, Will Howard, Krut, Joe Burgett, and The Gold Standard AkD.
hitting the Pay Dirt on Krut.
and attempts to show dominance hitting the Pumphandle Slam on Joe Burgett.
AkD hits a Superkick on Krut as M tries to cover Joe Burgett, to no avail. Shortly after, AkD pins Krut to mark the first elimination of the match. 5 superstars remain
AkD hits the Pay Dirt on JLB, and goes for the cover but gets a two-count. In the meantime, Will Howard is eliminated by a Boogeyslam from M.
AkD hits M with a Superkick, and busts him wide open.
Joe Burgett and AkD both try to cover JLB and M, respectively. Unfortuneately for Joe, AkD is a second faster on the cover and M is pinned for the third elimination. JLB kicks out with yet another two-count. Can anyone pin the Phenom?
AkD hits the Pay Dirt on Joe Burgett, and shortly thereafter eliminates him to bring it down to the final two, AkD and JLB.
And AkD quickly sets himself up for the T-Bone Suplex on JLB. Can it be enough to finally secure AkD that elusive gold?
In truely poetic fashion, AkD pins JLB and captures the World Heavyweight Championship, ironically also in the first match he flat-out won.
It's announced shortly after the Battle Royale that newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion AkD will now have to run the gauntlet and defend his title against all five opponents he squared off against in the Battle Royale to win his title. We start against M.
I'll sum up the match. Sheer Dominance. AkD here hits M with the Pay Dirt. Shortly following a Superplex and a Rebound Suplex off the ropes comes a T-Bone Suplex, and its topped off with a Superkick. for the pinfall.
AkD successfully defends his World Heavyweight Championship.
Who apparently has a weakness for Gold. Here we see AkD hitting JLB with the Pay Dirt in his second title defense of the night. Shortly after, AkD gets the pinfall with a T-Bone Suplex.
We take a break from the World Heavyweight Championship Gauntlet for an ECW Extreme Rules Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships, between the teams of Joe Burgett and Will Howard going up against M and the Phenom JLB.
Here we see JLB taking out frustrations on Joe Burgett with a chair. Take that "The Artist Formerly Known As" Numero Uno!
JLB hits Will Howard with the Tombstone, but gets a two-count on the pinfall attempt.
JLB gets it right the second time and hits Joe Burgett with the Tombstone Piledriver for the win. JLB and M capture Tag Team gold on Smackdown, winning the WWE Tag Team Championships.
In a match that somehow was lost in the footage, M wins a battle of the unknowns against GHD for the United States Championship in a First Blood Match.
AkD is now given an option. He must face his remaining three opponents, Joe Burgett, Will Howard, and Krut, in a six-Man Elimination Tag Team Match. If AkD wins, he retains his belt.
If he loses, he must give up the belt, and the new World Heavyweight Champion will be decided in a triple threat match at Judgement Day between the winning team....
AkD is cocky going into the match. He is told he can choose any two partners of his choice for the match. Who will he choose to help him retain his title?
In a shocking turn of events, AkD chooses none other than the World Tag Team Champions, Shane Howard and CB, to help him defend his World Heavyweight Championship....
In the process, ushering in the first stable to B/R, The Gold Standard. Between the three of them, at this time they currently hold four belts, with two of them facing off for a fifth at Judgement Day.
CB makes quick work of Will Howard, hitting the Rock Bottom about two minutes into the matchup.
A few spinebusters and Russian Leg Sweeps later, CB hits The Peoples Elbow on Krut, eliminating him thereafter. The score is now 3-2 in favor of The Gold Standard. Next in the ring is Will Howard.
hitting the T-Bone Suplex on Krut outside the ring.
AkD eliminates Krut following the Pay Dirt in the ring. This leaves none other than Joe Burgett left for his team.
Shane hits the Twin Legdrop inside the ring on Joe, shortly before....
hitting the Trouble In Paradise outside the ring.
Shane tags in CB to the action, who shortly after hits the Rock Bottom. Then, to top off the night...
CB tags in AkD to finish off Joe, hitting the Superkick for the pinfall, and retaining his World Heavyweight Championship.
AkD successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against fiv opponents in a single night, with the help from his friends and new stable-mates, The World Tag Team Champions, Shane Howard and CB.
How long will The Gold Standard reign supreme on top of the mountain that is the WWE? What will the future hold for Judgement Day with newly crowned WWE Tag Team and United States Champions? Tune in for the next edition of Smackdown to find out.
