On NBA draft night in 2006, Randy Foye—now a seven-year veteran guard playing for the Utah Jazzwas selected seventh overall by the Boston Celtics. Moments later, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers and again to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The wild draft experience didn't stop him from having a great first year in the league.

In his rookie season, he averaged 10.1 points, 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. This came after he had captured the 2006 Big East Player of the Year Award by averaging 20.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game with the Villanova Wildcats.
