World Football Idiot of the Week

This week’s world football idiot is to be determined, but it will come from one side of a nasty falling-out at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Seagulls manager Gus Poyet was fired over the weekend. The former Chelsea midfielder claims he knew nothing about his fate until he was told during a BBC broadcast, on which he was serving as a pundit.

If that’s how it really went down, Brighton have played things rather poorly. Poyet also has the League Managers Association (LMA) on his side: According to the LMA, the claims against Poyet are "unfounded" (h/t Sky Sports).

Brighton deny Poyet’s version of events. They say he knew full well he was going to be fired. They also strongly refute the LMA’s stance and plan to take legal steps against their position.

There’s an idiot in one of the camps here. Let us know who you think it is in the comments below.

The truth will come out soon enough!
