0 of 9

With David Moyes back in Manchester, this coming week promises to be an intriguing one from United's perspective.

The transfer rumours swirling around Old Trafford continue to grow as we enter the summer period.

This article is your one-stop shop for all gossip and speculation related to the Red Devils.

Make sure to check back here later in the week as it is updated with the latest news.

Moyes Willing to Offer Up to £20m for Baines

1 of 9

It has emerged that Leighton Baines is David Moyes primary transfer target this summer.

The Scotsman is clearly desperate to link-up with his former Everton soldier, a player ranked as one of the best in his position in world football

The Red Devils have already had a bid of £10 million rejected by the Toffees, and according to the Daily Mail, are willing to offer far more in future negotiations.

"United hope to persuade them with a deal that will total £20 million including additional performance-related payments for the 28-year-old," the report claims.

The club's current first choice left-back is Patrice Evra, but the Frenchman has begun to show his age in recent seasons.

Barca Tie Rafina Down to a New Contract in Bid to Keep Brother Thiago

2 of 9

Thiago Alcantara has seemingly been on the verge of signing for the Red Devils for a week now.

But as time drifts on, the likelihood of the Spanish attacking midfielder moving to Old Trafford lessens.

Thiago's club Barcelona are particularly keen on preventing the 22-year-old leaving for what would be a bargain £15 million.

The Spanish side have now tied down Thiago's brother, Rafinha to a new contract in an effort to keep both siblings at the Camp Nou (via Daily Mail).

It will now be up to the player whether to move abroad, or remain in Catalonia with his family.

Ronaldo to Meet with United Officials

3 of 9

The Cristiano Ronaldo-to-Manchester United transfer rumour is one which just does not want to die.

Earlier this week, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez told 20minutos "I have no doubt that Cristiano is going to retire at Real Madrid. I'm convinced that he'll renew. The renewals are done before the season starts" (h/t Yahoo).

But Spanish newspaper El Pais refute this assertion, claiming that the Portuguese superstar will head to Manchester to speak with United officials (h/t Daily Mail).

Per the report: "The Portugal captain could meet with United officials before heading back to pre-season training in Madrid."

The prospect of a transfer remains a distant one, but if proven correct, this news is sure to excite fans of the Red Devils.

Rooney Keen on Barca Switch

4 of 9

Stay or leave, most Manchester United fans just want Wayne Rooney to make up his mind.

The English forward had a fair 2012/13 season, but ultimately ended the campaign unhappy with his role in the team.

According to The Sun, Rooney's destination of choice is La Liga side Barcelona.

"The striker, who would cost £25 million, has always had the Nou Camp as his No 1 choice if he was ever to leave Manchester United," the report claims.

The Sun also claim that "Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen."

Barcelona Battling to Keep Thiago

5 of 9

Media speculation regarding the Red Devils' interest in Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara has reached fever pitch in the past few days.

Reports had suggested that a £17 million deal was imminent, but not according to The Guardian, who claim that the Spanish side are making a last-ditch effort to keep their young prodigy.

"It is understood his preference is to remain at Barcelona under Tito Vilanova though assurances are required that there will be more than the 15 La Liga starts handed to him during the last campaign."

The report states that United's interest in the 22-year-old could motivate Barcelona to improve his current salary of around £30,000-a-week.

Next week should see the transfer tussle resolved, either way.

Thiago's Father Planning for Manchester Future

6 of 9

Since the Thiago-to-Manchester United rumour is currently dominating the back pages, it is worth addressing a competing story from the weekend.

The Mirror take the more positive approach, claiming that the talented Spaniard is on the verge of completing a £17 million transfer to Old Trafford.

The report states that "Alcantara’s influential ex-Brazil international dad Mazinho thinks he should join United ahead of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and latecomers Chelsea this week."

It goes on to say that the whole family plans to relocate to the North West of England, with Thiago's brother Rafinha to potentially join Everton on loan.

United are also linked with a move for 20-year-old Rafinha.

Wayne Rooney Discouraged from London Move

7 of 9

The future of Wayne Rooney remains hanging in the air like a disconcerting odour.

David Moyes would clearly like the star forward to remain at Old Trafford, but the ongoing speculation regarding his wantaway intentions are proving a major distraction for the club.

Chelsea and Arsenal are believed to be suitors for his signature, but former Gunner Tony Adams believes Rooney might fail were he to move to London.

Speaking to The Sun, Adams said: "I’m not sure Wayne Rooney could handle London, to be completely honest. That would be a massive risk."

Has the 27-year-old never been to the capital city before?

Chelsea Set to Win Race for United Target Van Ginkel

8 of 9

Talented Dutch central midfielder Marco van Ginkel has suddenly become one of the hot names of this summer's transfer market.

The 20-year-old was impressive in the recent U-21 Euro Championships, where the Netherlands reached the semi-finals.

United are reputed to be interested in the Vitesse Arnhem player, though may miss out if a report from the Daily Mail is to be believed.

"Chelsea are close to signing £9 million Vitesse Arnhem's Marco van Ginkel after the Holland midfielder was reassured he will feature in Jose Mourinho's starting line-up," it states.

"He has been told by Holland manager Louis van Gaal he needs to play regularly next season to make the World Cup squad and Vitesse would prefer him to move to Chelsea."

Rooney and Ronaldo Linked in Huge Swap Deal

9 of 9

This is silly season after all, so here is a story that boggles the mind in terms of plausibility.

The Daily Star have reported that Manchester United and Real Madrid could swap Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney in a deal worth £90 million.

"Bookies William Hill have dramatically slashed the odds on Rooney joining the Spanish giants as a betting frenzy grips Britain," the report claims.

"Wazza went from 33-1 to 6-1 overnight to join Real as punters heaped cash on the United star packing his bags for the Bernabeu."

While United fans would love to see Ronaldo back at Old Trafford, they will have a difficult time believing this story.
