NASCAR Sonoma 2013: Live Results, Updates and Reaction
After a race that was filled with caution, Martin Truex Jr. finally ended his winless streak and walked away from Sonoma with his second victory in the Sprint Cup Series.
As the Chase gets closer, Truex now has some momentum for the post season, and if he continues to have sold finishes, he could be a factor in the Chase.
Juan Pablo Montoya almost had a solid finish until he ran out of gas on the last lap.
Kurt Busch also had a solid finish, and continues to impress. If Busch can continue finishing well through the regular season, he could be another driver to watch in the Chase.
The real star of Sonoma though is Truex Jr. He led more laps than any other driver, and more importantly, he finally showed that he can win, and now looks like a solid driver entering the Chase.
Road courses are always interesting, and Sonoma shook up the points standings a bit as other drivers like Greg Biffle had a good finish of eighth place, and Jimmie Johnson continued his dominance coming in ninth place.
Jeff Gordon finished in second, and while he is still winless, he has slowly started to move up the point standings with a great finish at Sonoma.
