The Miami Heat Had an Epic Pizza Party at the Club After Game 7 of NBA Finals
Another NBA title, another trip to the club.
After a grueling seven-game finals series with the San Antonio Spurs, the Miami Heat reeled in their second consecutive title. Desperately needing to blow off some steam, they headed straight for the only place you go after winning a national championship in Miami: the Story.
That’s correct—after defeating the Spurs, the Heat threw everyone off by forgoing their traditional celebration venue Liv and instead headed to Club Story, another Miami Beach night club. Business Insider’s Tony Manfred spied video of the party that occurred, and I can confirm that it was the best kind of party—a pizza party.
Yes, the world champions ate pizza while Drake stood by cheesing, rapping and trying to look natural.
Was Pat Riley in the house? Oh, the Riley was in the house, sneaking up on James and his tank top of gold chains. Never underestimate Riley's sneakiness.
Dwyane Wade was wearing a “#3FORWADE” shirt that would’ve stayed in a drawer for another year had the team not won, but looked quite appropriate on the three-time NBA Finals champ.
The choice of venue threw everyone off. The exclusive Liv Night Club at the Fontainebleau Hotel has been the traditional hot spot for NBA teams looking to celebrate their title win in Miami. The Heat dropped around $200,000 at the club after their 2012 title, and the Dallas Mavericks crashed the place in 2011. So if you were waiting around at Liv for the Heat to show up, welp, sorry ‘bout that.
Well, guess the Heat switched up celebration venues this year and went to Story instead of LIV...— Tom Green (@Tomas_Verde) June 21, 2013
While there’s only so much to go on, judging from the images we’ve seen of last night, the Heat were keeping it lower-key than last year, where confetti and carbon dioxide guns came into play.
Frankly, I’m amazed they could stay up to do anything after this series.
