In a proud announcement like a father showing off his newborn, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III posted a picture of the latest and greatest in shoes from Adidas on his Facebook site Wednesday night. Along with the photo, Griffin noted, "CANT WAIT to try these out tomorrow."

Whoa, RG3, take it easy. Aren't you still in the rehabilitation process following reconstructive knee surgery? These new shoes have plastic springs that resemble what Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius competed with in the 2012 London Olympics.

The shoe and the design are part of the company's new Boost Technology line, and the pair displayed by RG3 is known as the SpringBlade model. Griffin has an endorsement deal with the shoe and athletic apparel company, and is the star of one of its most successful ads this year.

The shoes will not be available in stores until August, according to website Pocket-lint, who reviewed the shoes in February. In that review, the site mentioned there was not much information released by the company on the latest in shoe incarnations, but added "Adidas confirmed...the shoe is designed for running and training."

When Adidas signed RG3 in February 2013, it issued the following statement:

“Robert Griffin III is an athlete first and we respect everything he brings to the game,” David Baxter, vice president of Sport Performance for Adidas America, said in a news release. “His team player mentality, strong leadership on and off the field and genuine character combined with explosive and dominant athleticism make him a perfect fit for our brand. He’s clearly a great football player but, importantly, he’s a great athlete.”

The relationship between RG3 and Adidas has not been without some mild controversy. According to CSN Washington, Griffin was fined $10,000 in December by the NFL for wearing Adidas apparel to a postgame news conference. The league has an apparel deal with Nike.

In pregame warm-ups to Week 1,'s Darren Rovell reported RG3 had to have a talk with the NFL after he covered the Nike name on his undershirt with the word "Heart."

During this offseason, RG3 told reporters during his May 23 press conference he would be "all in for Week 1." This is the slogan for Adidas and Griffin's television commercial. He would later send a Twitter message explaining himself:

Feel like I need to say this..Although my goal is to start Week 1, that doesn't mean I will compromise my career to do so.

Regardless of what RG3 does, he will always be one of the best things to happen to the Redskins in decades. However, those shoes look like an accident just waiting to happen.
