The Cardinals were only able to manager one run off of Cubs' starter Jeff Samardzija on Tuesday, losing 4-2 in the second game of their four game series. Adam Wainwright (10-4) got the loss after giving up four runs in the first inning. With two outs, he gave up back-to-back doubles to Nate Schierholtz and Alfonso Soriano, and back-to-back home runs to Ryan Sweeney and Cody Ransom. Wainwright settled down after the inning, but it was too late.
