The World Heavyweight Championship has been in the wrestling world since 1904. In 1948, Lou Thesz won the NWA World Title; then, Buddy Rogers won the NWA World Title, becoming the first man to hold both WWF/NWA World Titles. After that, Ric Flair won it eight times. Now, in the modern era, many people have held this title. Let's look at the top 10 One Hit Wonders to hold this Championship in WCW/WWE.

10—Ron Simmons

Ron Simmons is a former Football player turned wrestler. Simmons won his first and only World Title in WCW after beating Vader in 1992.

He would then lose it to Vader months later, join the WWF, and become Tag Team Champion with JBL.

9—Chris Benoit

Chris Benoit won the WCW World Heavyweight Title in 2000 at Souled Out. Benoit would only hold it for a day after leaving for the WWF.

Then, in 2004, at Wrestlemania XX, Benoit won the World Heavyweight Championship by forcing Triple H to tap out to the Crossface. Beniot would then lose thetitle to Randy Orton at Summer Slam 2004.

8—Vince Russo

Russo merely held the title for a week.

7—Scott Steiner

Big Poppa Pump held the WCW World Heavyweight Title by beating Booker T. He held it for 120 days, only to lose it to Booker back in 2001 on the final day of Nitro.

Steiner then fought for the World Heavyweight Championship against Triple H in 2003, but was unsuccessful.

6—Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle beat Booker at Smackdown! on July 24 and held the World Heavyweight Title for a mere six days before losing it to Booker on RAW.

Kurt then held the World Heavyweight Title in WWE in 2006 and defended it against Undertaker, Mark Henry, and at Wrestlemania 22, he lost it to Rey Mysterio.

5—Bill Goldberg

Who could forget his reigns as WCW and WWE World Champion?

Goldberg had a Streak on 173-0 in WCW during his World Title run and held it for 174 days before losing it to Kevin Nash at Starrcade.

Then, in 2003, Goldberg won the World Championship and held it until December 2003. He lost it to Triple H in a three-way match that included Kane.

4—Shawn Michaels

The Heart-Break Kid won his first and only World Heavyweight Title in the WWE at the Survivor Series in 2002 in the Elimination Chamber.
Shawn would only hold the title for a month before losing it to Triple H in Deember of 2002.

3—Randy Orton

Randy Orton is the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history at the age of 24.

Randy Won the World Heavyweight title in 2004 after beating Chris Benoit at Summer Slam. Orton would celebrate on RAW, only for Evolution to beat him down.
Triple H won it back from him at Unforgiven.

2—Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio put himself on the map when he won the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22 by beating Kurt Angle and Randy Orton.

Rey would hold the World Heavyweight title for 110 days and would hold onto it until The Great American Bash, where he lost it to King Booker.

Mysterio continued his quest for the World Heavyweight Championship, becoming a Triple Crown Champion by winning the Intercontinental Title at Wrestlemania XXV, beating JBL in 21 seconds.

1—CM Punk

CM Punk won the Money in the Bank contract st Wrestlemania XXIVand cashed it in on RAW in June 2008 to become the World Heavyweight champion in the process.
He lost the title without ever getting pinned at Unforgiven 2008.
