Power Ranking the Main-Card Fights at UFC 161

Riley KontekJun 1, 2018

The UFC returns to Canada this weekend with UFC 161 from Winnipeg. The card is headlined by former 205-pound champion Rashad Evans and two-division Pride champion Dan Henderson.

The card has shuffled a bunch due to numerous injuries. It is possible that will hurt the pay-per-view sales, but we will see when it is all said and done.

For now, here is a power ranking of the main card fights.ย

5. Alexis Davis vs. Rosi Sexton

1 of 5

I love women's MMA, but this bout isn't anything I have been yearning for from the opposite sex. Rosi Sexton is a normal 125-pounder, while Alexis Davis is arguably a top-five bantamweight.

Davis is bigger, stronger and a better grappler. I think we know what will happen here.ย

4. Ryan Jimmo vs. Igor Pokrajac

2 of 5

Snagging a main card spot by default, Igor Pokrajac-Ryan Jimmo will likely be an entertaining fight. The problem is that both fighters are out of the win column in their last outing and are not in the 205-pound title picture yet.

Jimmo is a technical striker with good power, while Pokrajac has similar qualities. This fight could be entertaining, but it still falls low on this power ranking.ย

3. Pat Barry vs. Shawn Jordan

3 of 5

Heavyweights are usually a crowd favorite. They are hard-hitting men that usually end their fights early.

That being said, there is definitely some intrigue in the Pat Barry-Shawn Jordan fight. However, it's not like we are seeing Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brock Lesnar here, so it's not the most anticipated fight.

Barry likes to knock fools out. Jordan is a savage (no pun intended). This will either be great or a grinding affair that has fans pulling their hair out.ย

2. Roy Nelson vs. Stipe Miocic

4 of 5

Speaking of heavyweights, Roy Nelson and Stipe Miocic are set to meet each other in the co-main event, again because of the shuffling and injuries this card has endured.

Nelson is the one-shot, one-kill puncher. Miocic is a technical boxer with good wrestling. He will need to use said wrestling to stay away from the knockout ability Nelson possesses.

Of course, everyone always loves a knockout, so keep an eye out for "Big Country."ย

Dan Henderson vs. Rashad Evans

5 of 5

The former champions and main eventers will take the top spot on the power ranking. That is not saying much, though, as this is a pretty weak pay-per-view (thanks a lot, injury bug).

There is the possibility of a one-punch knockout by Dan Henderson. There is the possibility of a boring wrestling match by Rashad Evans. Both men could just as easily come out and give us a Fight of the Year candidate.

It's always a treat when former champions battle. This should be memorable, for better or worse.ย
