Why Big E Langston Should Have Actually Been Kaitlyn's Secret Admirer
For weeks on end, the WWE Universe was left to wonder who exactly would be revealed as the secret admirer of Divas champion Kaitlyn.
After a brief tease at the outset of the storyline that it would be the Bella Twins, the individual was revealed to be World Heavyweight champion Dolph Ziggler's "heavy," Big E Langston.
And the world gasped.
The implications were mighty, as Langston was aligned with Ziggler and his main squeeze, AJ, who also happens to be the No. 1 contender for Kaitlyn's title.
Langston appeared to be sincere, dressed nicely and carrying flowers to the ring.
His short speech as to his reasons for liking Kaitlyn were cute, and they also seemed genuine.
However, the end game was quickly revealed as Langston swept Kaitlyn back for what seemed to be the beginning of a magical first kiss, before dropping her emphatically to the mat.
AJ soon skipped to the ring, and the details of a cruel and petty plan were explained.
But at the end of the day, would it have made more sense for Langston to actually be Kaitlyn's secret admirer, rather than a pawn in a cruel game of chess?
A relationship with Kaitlyn could set up a fantastic feud with Ziggler and AJ, as they would see his dating her as a betrayal of their trust, and a slight against them. Langston could begin to get over a face by citing their exploitation of him as their own personal wrecking machine, and their mistreatment of his woman.
This would also serve to humanize Langston, as he seems to be portrayed as a cold, somewhat dim errand boy for Ziggler and AJ at the moment. By aligning himself with Kaitlyn, he can show a softer personal side, while still continuing to be a physical force inside the ring.
It would also give the Divas title picture a bit of a jolt, as it is normally the least defended and irrelevant title in the company.
And think about this, the company is currently without many "couples" at the moment.
Sure, Ziggler and AJ make a fetching pair. And there is some type of loose alliance between the Great Khali and Natalya, but at the end of the day, there is very little relationship drama to speak of at the moment.
And the matchup of Langston and Kaitlyn would also be somewhat understandable since both are regarded as powerhouses in their respective divisions. Kaitlyn is arguably the most physically intimidating Diva in the company at the moment, especially since Beth Phoenix's exit in late 2012.
But a feud with Ziggler would be the biggest thing to come out of this proposed relationship.
The company seemed to plant a seed of discontent between Langston and AJ several weeks ago when the latter cost the former a match against Alberto Del Rio. Langston walked out on AJ as she yelled after him that she was only trying to help him.
And a face turn could be a good idea for the young powerhouse, as the company is currently without any main event monster to face competitors.
Guys like Khali, Brodus Clay and Tensai seem to exist to put over other burgeoning talents. Langston could be the guy who changes that trend.
He is young, agile for his size and full of promise. As a former NXT champion, the company obviously has some type of faith in his abilities, as he held that title for 168 days, longer than any competitor to date. In that time, he also served as Ziggler's backup.
In any event, the company may have already spoiled the idea of Langston having an issue with the ruse on Kaitlyn by having him seem excited about it in the first place. As AJ made her way to the ring, she high-fived him as he laughed at what had happened.
Of course, they could always have him backtrack and have him show some remorse over the incident. And then Kaitlyn may finally have someone to defend her honor, which could then solidify Langston's possible face turn.
Plus, how can you not root for a guy who has his own My Little Pony?
