    According to Metro, David Moyes sees Cesc Fabregas as the ideal replacement for the retiring Paul Scholes.

    As such, Manchester United appear closer to securing the signing of the Spaniard than Arsenal are right now.

    The Gunners hold first refusal rights on the midfielder, but the report suggests he's ready to take the Red Devils up on their offer and snub his old boss.

    However, Fabregas told Spanish newspaper Marca (via Sky Sports) that he doesn't want to leave Barcelona.

Mario Gomez

    Mario Gomez's agent has denied the notion that his client is set for a move to Fiorentina, reports Sport1 TV via ITV Sport.

    Uli Ferber claimed it's not true Gomez has already agreed a move. He goes on to suggest it will be a mammoth task to find a new club and that Gomez will only move to a team where he will be first choice on the books.

    Despite those demands, he'll have plenty of suitors.


3 of 6 have reported that Casemiro has signed permanently with Real Madrid, filling the hole Michael Essien leaves on his return to Chelsea.

    The Brazilian, who has five international caps, impressed on his first-team cameo against Real Betis at season's end. As a result, management have decided to pay the £5.1 million required to land him.

    Casemiro's Sao Paulo career had gone a little stale and was at risk of wasting his huge potential.

Sunderland Sign Three

    Sunderland have announced the signings of three new players, Sky Sports have confirmed.

    Modibo Diakite, a central defender, joins from Lazio to add quality and quantity following the departure of Titus Bramble, while midfielder Cabral has joined from FC Basel.

    Their third and final signing of a busy day was Valentin Roberge, another centre-back, formerly of Maritimo.

Iago Aspas

5 of 6 have confirmed Iago Aspas is in Liverpool for a medical ahead of his proposed transfer to the club.

    The Celta Vigo star has won many admiring glances this season for his quick-witted, creative play in the forward line and will be rewarded with a move to Merseyside this summer.

    Aspas helped his Spanish side avoid relegation to the Segunda Liga on the final day of the season, assisting on the club's only goal in a win.

    Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has told Sky Sports that he would be open to playing under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. The Uruguayan also mentioned Manuel Pellegrini, who has told Spanish radio show Al Primer Toque (via The Guardian) that he has an agreement in place to manage Manchester City next season, as someone with whom he would like to work.

    TalkSPORT have reported that Karim Benzema has no interest in a summer move to Manchester United, while they've also suggested Wilfried Bony will fight for a switch to the English Premier League.

    Real Madrid are happy to wait and bid big for Gareth Bale, according to Marca via The Irish Times.

    Marco van Ginkel's agent has told De Telegraaf (via ESPN) that Chelsea are interested in the Vitesse Arnhem midfielder.
